I know that most of our reactions to this is you're too old, it'll never be the same, stay retired old men, don't ruin your legacy like a ****py old Rocky sequel, HOWEVER, boxing is business which is also closely linked to show business and as much as the idea of this is a bit of a joke, it would be a sell out we'd all watch it out of some macabre intrigue if nothing else. The other point to make is a good fight is a good fight, if two men are equal at 30 they'll probably be equal at 50. They are both in better condition than most men in their prime, so it might, it just might be a really good tear up !! I'd rather pay for this than I may weather fight even if there is a golf of difference for the boxing purist

I doubt the British Boxing Board would sanction this. It looks like another Malta special.

why not ? If they passed the medicals, have you seen these guys in the gym with their sons ? Not sure they can do that unless they have medical grounds, it's ageist !! :)

I dunno, they passed James Toney to fight in prize fighter and that's 3 fights in one night.

There has been a lot worse than these two been sanctioned to fight over recent years. Provided they pass all required tests & physicals I don't see that it will get declined.

Failing that it will happen in Dublin with Mickey Vann refereeing it.

I know there are some fighters that can well into their 40s, and boxing is a business......but........hope this doesn't happen.

Big believer boxing is a young man (or womans) game. More so now I am 39 years old and recovering from surgery for a detached retina :(

With all that said, I would still watch it. Don't think Eubank really wants it though 'If Nigel Benn accepts the deal we will off him'

what is a 'young man' these days though, everybody is living into their 90's, 70 years woman look like foxes, gone are the days that they hit 70 and it's off to the salon for a blue rinse :). These dudes are very very fit. I am 43 and compete in cycle races in UK and overseas, I honestly don't think a 20 year old version of me could have beat a 40 year old version of me in a 100 mile bike race.

What would work much better as a format is a legends style prize fighter. Benn, Eubank, Roy Jones to name a few of a similar age.

Agree it isn't related to the number and I didn't mean it in relation to other sports. Fitness wise I would give my 20 yr old self a good run, but, punch resistance and speed of recovery from sparring - not a chance. Just my personal view

Krb, I do agree, just look at how Hatton suddenly lost his armour, but where I think this is difference is that it's two men of the same age, so in theory, if they have deteriorated at the same rate it's not an issue

    Those two live the life.

Benn and Eubank are in better nick now than when Ricky was between fights. That's a fact.

Didn't Eubank school Dawson a few years back as well?

I'd love to see this like my wife still goes to see Take That in concert, you know they're past it but you just can't let it go :)

Nigel Benn is best priced 11/4 for this. Seems crazy price after seeing some of his gym work. If it ever happens, would defo be itnerested at that price.

hmm, the only thing is this, Benn was more of a blood, sweat and tears warrior and Eubank more of the pugilist, arguably he will always be a pugilist but Benn, I doubt could find the resolve to take it into the trenches.
