Would the explosive power of Nigel Benn do the trick here?
Or could minter survive the storm and wear down the Destroyer?

A lot depends on how Minters eyes hold up.If they do i would fancy him to outpoint Benn

    Hi Guys.
Noel on point as usual, I too would fancy Minter if he doesn't get to badly, but I would go further and could envisage Benn being stopped late in the fight especially if the distance was 15 rounds, Minter was a distance fighter he thrived on long fights, whereas Benn was somewhat lacking in that department if the Watson fight is a gauge, of course it's entirely plausible that Benn comes out guns blazing ala Barkley, and stuns and cuts Minter to force the ref to step in. but on balance I see Minter winning late.
If I knew how to post pictures, and I could find it, I have a very clear photo of myself and Alan on a boat ( yes boat ) in the lobby of Caesars Palace, after winning the title from Antuofermo, he was a little bruised but other than that looked in great shape.
    stay safe guys, chat soon.

    Hi Noel.
It was mate, liked him a lot,ent to nearly all his fights : Finnegan / Tonna/ Knight / Seales, and many more besides, it was so sad years later when I met him at various functions and he was drunk, and belligerent, his looks had gone he was slurring his words, it brought tears to my, eyes, he deserved better, much better.
    stay safe buddy.

    Agreed mate.
There's always that danger with Minter, same as cooper, that the old eyes start spurting.
Benn was such a wild middle weight, anyone he took on ended up in the eye of the storm.
Now if Alan can survive getting cut or Kod (another possibility), and get Benn in to the deeper waters, then the fights his.
He can't get too macho against Nige, Cos he could take your head off.

Absolutely spot on Mike, regarding the distance.
I really can't see the middle weight Benn lasting in to the 15 rounds.
He wanted you gone and used a lot of energy to get you out early.

Wasnt Minter a tad too slow for Benn?

Benn had very fast hand's,I think Alan did have decent speed.
I think the biggest danger for Minter is he actually liked a good scrap and got stuck in.

If Alan hadn't cut easily his career wouldve been even more impressive .
In a middleweight Benn...a WBO champ...he is facing quite a fast fisted power puncher with vulnerabilities but heart.
Minter competed very well with the fast speedy olympic gold medalist Ronnie Harris before the cuts cost him the fight . Ditto I felt the Hamsho fight where he faced a prime rough n tough brawler was even at the final bell.
I think Alan stays smart unlike the Hagler fight and boxes Benn . Like Collins he was strong and would try to manhandle Nigel like he did Antuofermo.
    Minter stops Benn in 13

    Benn. Big.

He was really something to watch on his rise up. I like him in this match because he simply won't have to find Minter. 20 seconds into the fight it's a brawl. And nobody had to tell Nigel to throw punches back then. tko within 3 rounds. Ref waves it off due to swelling or cuts or Benn winging away > a few knockdowns.

Great slugfest to watch and just who doesn't like that?

Benn takes him out with the big left hook and catches Minter upright, sweeps him with it similar to how Toney KO’d Nunn, they come out of and exchange, leans to his left to generate power and goes right through with it as Minter throws something of his own.

    Minter outboxes him imo.

Benn is one of the most overrated British fighters ever for my money. Minter is so underappreciated and forgotten nowadays it's ridiculous. Unfortunately most only really know the Hagler loss and haven't watched his career.

The Minter who totally dominated Antuofermo in their 2nd fight I'd favour him to get the job done via UD if he doesn't get cut.

Minter is underrated a clever Southpaw would be big problems for Benn.
