Almost any fight involving Benn would be a big draw in the UK.

But I'm not convinced Canelo would have taken on a prime Benn (or Watson, Eubank, Nunn, Kalambay, Graham or McCallum), at either Middleweight or Super Middleweight.

Graham never had enough in world title fights and couldn`t have out-boxed Canelo the way he was out-boxing Jackson until being caught, he never faced a tight guard like Canelo`s and neither did the others aside from Nunn who faced Starling, I don`t think Nunn was impressive v Starling, he was caught by a lot of straight rights and Canelo lands more counters than Nunn used to.

That's nice. It doesn't address the point though.

I doubt Canelo is entering into a highly competitive division, if he can avoid it. Even if he does, he's over-matched by a lot of those players at 160/168.

PS - a 'tight guard', alone, does not win fights.

Who’s Canelo fought with Graham’s size and style?

We saw what happened with Lara.

Canelo could definitely have beaten Graham and I’m sure he’d have been favoured. But it would have been a bad stylistic match up. Graham was considerably bigger, and he was fast with an unorthodox style. He gave McCallum a lot of trouble.

Canelo has tighter than McCallum had and has a higher guard than he used v Lara, his last two opponents landed hardly any punches on Canelo, Kalambay caught Graham quite a lot in their two match-ups.

None of that has anything to do with what I typed.

It’s how they’d have matched up together, not how they matched up against other fighters.

And that, in a nutshell, describes every Mark ant reply.
