Valdez knocked him down once in their second meeting, and Rafael Gutierrez knocked him down twice when they fought. Can anyone guess who the other one is?

As far as i know he was down at least two more times against Salinas and Marks.

I guess that's what I get for putting faith in wikipedia. It said he'd been floored three times (Valdez + Gutierrez), but then I saw on boxrec that Salinas floored him, so I checked the video to validate it. I guess it's still a surpise, tho; Bennie's not the kind of fighter one imagines getting knocked down a lot.

Valdez vs Briscoe = Foreman vs Frazier = Laporte vs Lockridge

what's that mean? Briscoe was only knocked down once in pretty close fight, the others were just beatdowns

Laporte - Lockridge was anything but a beatdown.

William, Bennie had 95 fights in 16 years, fighting EVERYONE in the process. I would say suffering 1 ko loss against a world class puncher/fighter and 5 knockdowns is highly impressive. And it still constitutes a granite chin.

I don't dispute that; getting knocked out in 7 by Valdez was no disgrace. I'm not disputing Bennie's chin either, he's one of the toughest. The fact that he was down five times, by four men, and got up to knock three of them out shorty after being floored is incredible, not many do that.

He was down later in his career against Ralph Hollett.
