Good stuff. I love watching Bennie work, so methodical. Like some kind of inevitable doom creeping your way with no way to escape. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M95dou-g5OI&playnext=1&videos=Rw3D7UTyyj8[/ame]
Mundine was awful and seemed to capitulate rather easily. Still, the best of 3 rated contenders Briscoe beat in his long stint at 160.
I was only messing around really, he was a decent contender, but I've heard people talking about him as like a really brilliant technician and super-skilled and such in the past which is just more arse-kissing for Monzon than anything (but I do think he lacked durability and technical skill). It was a good win - Briscoe's best win. Here is the whole thing in nice quality from an alternative source: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm7cB97k3pw[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKs_LxdHSyI[/ame]
Bennie was one of the first Bald headed and imposing Phillie fighters, always tough and one of my favorites from that era
I think Briscoe would have given Tony Zale a real run for his money...Briscoe tucks his elbows in tight, body hunched over (hard to get to his body), and a punishing left jab. Briscoe would give anybody a tough fight.
