Briscoe was a good fighter, but not real sure how he do vs other eras. Its a taall order for him to be champ in pretty much any era imo.

I wont mention the 1800's for lack of film, though I read Dempsey was a great boxer, but still I think beating Dempsey in his prime, would be a tall order imo. I always view him as a Benny Leonard type of fighter. Base on reports and reading. Or Jim Corbett perhaps.

But in the 1900's, He would have to deal with Fitz and Ryan, Perhaps Briscoe could beat em, but I not sure, with rules and changes and all that. I favor the older fighters with the smaller gloves and ring size, and of couse lack of corner rule.

The 1910's, Ketchel, It would be a bloodfest imo, could go either way perhaps, but I think it would be a tall order for Briscoe to win this one, perhaps after Ketchel's death, he might get a claim.

The 1920's had Greb, Walker, Flowers, and I dont see Briscoe nabbing the title in this super elite era of middleweights imo.

The 30's, would be something, I not sure since the middleweight title was pretty much well just claims about. He would be able to get a claim perhaps, but I dont see him being THEE man with Zale, Apostoil, or Soose. It would be a hard era of being the number 1 guy with Walker retiring, and evey one claiming to be champ.

The 40's, I think he has a shot after the War, Zale on the way out, But I cant see him beating Cerdan. Perhaps it was the impressive he left on the whipping he put on Zale.

50's would be a other hard one with Robinson and Fullmer, Perhaps he can nabb it from Olson, but I dont think so, he would be a top contender, but I dont see him being champ here.

The 60's had Dick Tiger, and I cant see him beating Griffith imo. I cant see him nabbing the title in that era.

The 70's had Monzon, and good luck with that.

We all know how he did in the 80's.

He could nabb a alpha title in the 90's, but Toney, Jones Jr, and Nunn would be tall orders imo.

I cant see him beating Hopkins either, I give him a shot today about. But even than I not sure.

Briscoe was in his 25th fight when he drew with Monzon (49 fights).

Briscoe was coming off his loss to Luis Rodriguez, who had shown him a few pro tricks I am sure.

Briscoe was probably very motivated and probably won the fight.
