mcvey, Louis was invariably generous to opponents, he was negative about Carnera because he honestly didn't have any regard for him as a fighter. How about when Carnera's own Italian fans turned against him in the Chevalier fight?

"One of Chevalier's seconds, Bob Perry, threw in the towel, although it appeared to all that the boxer was in no worse condition than Carnera. "A bitter demonstration followed. Half a dozen fans attacked Perry, striking and kicking him. In the melee he suffered a cut under the eye. Fellow countrymen of Carnera's stood on chairs and shouted 'fake' and urged the huge Italian be made to fight over again." (AP) The boxing commission started an immediate investigation. Mrs. Chevalier told them her husband had been approached earlier to agree to a "fake fight," but that he had directed all business to his manager, Tim McGrath. McGrath declared he had no knowledge that Perry was going to throw in the towel, and that the towel should not have been thrown in. Carnera's purse was withheld.Attendance 10,000."

What was the excuse for this?

The dreadnought division never got off the ground, it was mooted by two sportswriters and one member of the NY AC and quietly dropped
You said Carnera was inexperienced against Super heavies when he fought novice Impelletiere,I posted the names of 21 of them that he had fought prior to facing him. I wonder some one as ignorant on the subject feels compelled to make these silly and inaccurate statements? You're dead right you don't know everything, and we don't need to be informed of the fact!

If you had a few more brain-cells you would be a half wit!

Read Loughran's 1972 interview about the fight then get back to me.

Interesting how cold Louis was to Carnera.
Not just after the fight, but before the fight too.

Carnera kept trying to talk to him during the weigh in, and Louis was having none of it. The only time Louis acknowledged him was to shake his hand.

Louis seemed extremely focused and determined for this match.

Louis and he press seemed much warmer to Buddy Baer after losing in one round to Louis.

    Still ignorant?
After being proven wrong like 10 times in the same thread?

You should be a bit more humble at this point. Stop pretending you know everything. Be more flexible and open to new information.

Louis stated that Carnera was pulling faces at him and talking smack.

There are literally dozens of posters on this forum far better informed than I .

Neither Deluded 1234 or yourself are two of them!

You always lose it and get personal it's a recurring habit of yours .
Since that's your MO , I'll say this, I've tried to be congenial towards you and I appreciate the clips you post and have thanked you politely for them several times.
Now hear this, your dissemination and interpretation of fights is abysmal ,and totally coloured by your fan boy preferences.
You would not recognize objectivity if it jumped up and bit you on the nose!

I read he was being jovial, tongue in cheek. But I guess in the moment both are equally distracting.

I'll take openness to new information over hoarding old knowledge any day of the week.

And I'll take primary sourced contemporary reports, and first hand accounts from boxers who shared the ring with him over your fan boy adoration.
You will never know jack sh*t about this sport all the time you are incapable of accepting any information that does not suit you.
Sorry ,I'm sure you are a nice lad in all other respects, but that's my honest opinion.

Knowledge is knowledge. It doesn't change with age. It can be added to but, so-called new information is, more often than not, merely revised opinion on existing, previously known facts.

Yes indeed ,when are they going to produce some primary sourced reports that will add to our knowledge of this subject? Because I haven't seen any so far! All I've read is Benny Leonard picks Carnera to beat Baer because he has better defence. Well we know how accurate Benny's forecast was!
Max Baer said Carnera would do well with Louis again how did that turn out?
Its incredible that that's the sum total of their argument!
