    Benny finishes what Meldrick Taylor, Pernell Whitaker, Rocky Lockridge and Juan LaPorte failed to complete. Leonard too tough, too smart, too durable and too skilled not to take a clear UD with both at their respective bests. (For Chavez, I'm figuring that would be his domination of Rosario at 135.) Unlike Meldrick and Pernell, he had sufficient firepower to keep JCC honest. If LaPorte could buckle Julio, then Benny could definitely do it. (Yes, I realize that works both ways, but Leonard also had mad survival skills.)

    Unfortunately we have never seen the best of Benny Leonard who kod 69 opponents. We have only 2 films of Leonard beating a great southpaw Lew
    Tendler. Leonarde of his prime, was considered just as unbeatable as a lightweight,as was Ray Robinson, as a welterweight. Too fast on his feet for Chavez, and a sharper two-handed puncher. Leonard by unanimous decision.

    Chavez of '87 at 135 pounds was an animal.... I have never seen Bad Benny Leonard fight a full fight in his prime on film.... Of course both men are / were great, but I'm bold and picking Chavez to beat a circa--1920 Leonard at lightweight......

    We've never seen Leonard fight a technically great pressure fighter that was an animal like Chavez so it's very much unknown territory

    I think Leonards ability to punch and move would serve him well here. He would no doubt take tremendous punishment but should be able to take a comfortable UD.

    We've seen this fight in Whitaker/Chavez. Leonard is Whitaker and Chavez is Chavez. The only diffrance is that Leonard fights out of an orthodox stance and he hits harder than welterweight Whitaker. I don't see this being a close fight at all.

    From what I've read of the 'Ghetto Wizard' he'd outpoint Chavez in a close thriller.
