Would Armstrong's pressure eventually wear down Leonard? Or would Benny dictate the proceedings with his boxing, power, and footwork?
Two of the all time best...Who do you take?

Great matchup! From the things I have read and the film clips of the two that I have seen, I would pick Benny Leonard to outslick Armstrong. Henry would give it a great fight but I pick Leonard by decision.

Based on footage, Armstrong would win over 15 by Decision, though Leonard is capable of taking enough earlier rounds.

Armstrong's never stop punching style is going to serve him very well. On the other hand Leonard had the ability to adapt to the style he faced.
I tend to pick speed Leonard over efective agresion Armstrong.
I think they both could score knockouts so I don't think Leonard is going toe to toe with him. I think Leonard wins 9-11 of the 15 rounds.
Leonard will have to work for it but I think he wins.

Holy Christ what a matchup! The slick boxer Leonard vs the relentless swarmer Armstrong. I see two possible scenarios...either Leonard wins by decision or Armstrong by late stoppage. Put a gun to my head and I'll take Armstrong by late stoppage.

    bump

    Leonard by decision....
Henry was skilled too, of course, but Leonard would be the right style to beat Armstrong, his awesome jab would be the key for Benny here.....He was the more complete fighter...

When i was growing up ,this question was asked frequently, and I recall the consensus
by people who saw them both was Benny Leonard. Leonard as a lightweight champion for seven years, was the equivalent of a Welter Ray Robinson. A great set of legs,a great jab,
and pin-point power hitting. i believe he would outdo the lesser talented Fritzie Zivic and
outspeed and cut-up Henry Armstrong, along the way. Leonard when pressed could hit,
he kod an Armstrong like bull Rocky Kansas, for Kansas's only ko loss up to that time.
Leonard by UD or late stoppage at 135 lbs...

Armstrong will surely make Leonard work hard, but Benny's all-around package of slickness and power will see him prevail by UD.

Armstrong swarm-****s the talented, but limited, Benny Leonard. Wide UD.

Benny outboxes Armstrong for the majority of the fight, i see him taking a UD. However, Armstrong will get to him and it is possible that if when he does get to Benny for that 20/30 second period in a round he lands more than Benny does for the rest of the 2:30 in that round whilst outboxing him, then it becomes a matter of judges and what they score for.

This fight goes to the judges and like i said i think i pick Benny.

What a good fight this would be.

Armstrong is one of the best head to head ever in my opinion. I don't think even the likes of Leonard would beat him.

That from wat i've seen he is very orthodox. His key asset seems to be his movement and positioning, and Armstrong is the exact style to counter this, with his swarming, cutting off the ring and his feinting.

I think to beat Armstrong you need a vast punch-variety that is thrown from every angle(Robinson, and no one else i can think of). Otherwise just straight up rough and tough, unpredictable physicallity, and a significant size advantage.

According to boxWRECK's inclusion of NWS bouts, Benny went
    This content is protected
. But here's the thing. In matches which were not NWS affairs, Benny NEVER lost a decision! (Hank dropped a total of 19, and was dethroned twice via the championship distance.)

Leonard is not stopping Hank. Nor do I see Armstrong outpointing Benny. Hank went the distance in championship bouts with some regularity, around nine times. Leonard actually refereed Armstrong's WW defense rematch against Jimmy Garrison, and it would be interesting to know what Benny had to say about his chances with Hank.

My best guess is that Leonard does take it to the final bell, thus wins the decision.
