He's never beaten anybody close to Soto's level though. His KO ratio gives the impression he doesn't have the power to stop Soto backing him up.

Usually, you have to make a guy like Soto think a bit. Gaudet doesn't have the power to stop him coming forward. It would take mad skills indeed for benoit to win this one. I'll be cheering for him! Go Gaudet!

At what time is scheduled the fight?

Unless I'm mistaken, this is the co-main event so you're looking at a start time in the 10 o clock range unless I'm mistaken.

Right usually when GBP and Top Rank get together, Arum by seniority gets the co-main.

As per Gaudet decisioning Soto, I honestly don't know enough about Gaudet to accurately gauge his chances. What I do know is that Soto was bothered by a slickster in Guzman so if Gaudet can duplicate (replicate?) that game plan to perfection, he has one hell of a shot. I'd venture a guess and say Soto stops him around 5.

It was supposed to be Luevano vs Bernabe Conception but Luevano got hurt. Arum was in a crunch and Soto was the first fish to jump up for the top spot on somewhat short notice. The hot rumor at one point was that Soto was supposed to take on Lorenzo in a rather unneccessary rematch but that kind of got eschewed for some reason. Arum even considered trying to coax Kid Diamond (either Diamond would come down 5 lbs or Soto would go up 5 lbs) to take the fight but Diamond seems to be in retirement. It was offered to Gaudet, he jumped and there ya go.

I would've put my top gun Soto against Antillon but I doubt Arum even considered it.

Just for the record Arriba,Diamond is well and ticking and ain't planning a retirement. In fact he is having a fight soon. The DeMarco setback was bad though.

Really? Whose Kid Diamond going after? The DeMarco fight was a good 'un but the subsequent forfeit and the battles he's had in the past made it seem like enough was enough.

I'd also like to know more of the details about him potentially taking on Soto at the last minute.
