As per PPV undercards being ungodly chum, you're right 9/10. I mean PBF/Hatton had the worst most boring undercard known to man. When the MVP of your undercard is Edner Cherry, you know there's a problem. Even the Cotto/Margo undercard was **** poor. THAT SAID of course sometimes I can see what the promoters are going for specifically on an undercard like this. The idea to me at least seems to be to showcase the future (Lara, Korobov and Jacbobs) to the highest audience possible.
I've seen Gaudet fight and he does have skill. However he has not looked that great his last few fights and there is very little that I can see that would make me predict a Gaudet victory. Maybe if he runs a lot and avoids Soto ala Morrade Hakkar (while still somewhat fighting) then he can survive and maybe win.
Was it now? Maybe I have it confused with Cotto-Zab. Cotto-Zab the co main was JCC Jr vs Grover Wiley At the same time you can look at Pavlik-Hopkins undercard as well and grimace. The co-main was Billy Dibb-Steve Luevano With the LW division wide open, it wouldn't surprise me if Diamond got himself back in contention relatively soon. Hell I could even go for Diamond vs Barrera at this point.
It would have been nice to see Concepcion vs. Luevano had the latter not become injured. It seems bizarre to have a Gaudet-Soto co-main event to something this big. A quality card is what we say in the Philippines in the Donaire-Viloria main events. The lower guys actually entertained. Imagine had Montiel not pulled out! That would have been one hell of a lineup.
Indeed. That said Jacobs-Walker could turn out to be pretty good. The top two undercard fights look like round getters for guys like Soto and Jacobs which isn't exactly encouraging.
Yeah, the Canadian kid is way over his head. He will get punished and stopped inside 6 rounds. I saw him as an amateur and he was good... But in the two pro fights that I have seen him, he has looked terrible.
Gaudet is far from a bum. He just has a bad chin. The guy is very skilled and he had a very good amateur career. He was the national champion eleven times and won a medal at the world championship. He also represented Canada in the Olympics. Unfortunately, he gets hurt almost everytimes he gets hit on the chin. He will get knocked out tonight unless he fights a perfect fight. That doesn't make him a bum. Good luck Benoit!
Maybe cos of his bad chin he looks really terrified to take a punch. I saw one of his latest pro fights and he did not settle down at all in that one. He jumped around way too much... he did not really boxed. He just run, punched in a hurry, tied his opponent and runned again. He just looked awful and I could not believe that he was the same guy that I was in the amateur ranks few years ago. In this pro fight he seemt to have no self confidence, he looked very scared to take a puch. Why are they feeding him to someone like Soto right now? His managers and trainers must know that he is not menthally really for a tough fight...
