Berbick vs. Ali

I made it 6-3-1 to Berbick. Most of the rounds were fairly close.

 

I reckon i had it 7-3 Berbick, but i understand the closeness of each stinky round.

 

Don Dunphy was age 73 when he called "Ali-Berbick" in 1981 for SELECTV.... After the 10 rounder was over, Don had the balls to call it a great fight....

"Shavers-Sims" was the best fight on the card...... Shavers got decked early by rose to get the TKO win....

John Amos and John Travolta were at the fight in the Bahamas.......

How or why anyone would score it is beyond me. I had enough trouble watching the fight. It's an absolutely painful fight to watch. It's just sad, I almost wished I hadn't watched it.

I swear, by Dec. 1981, even Stevie Wonder could see that Ali was cooked.... He looked weak, listless, spacey and had soft tones when he slurred his speech.... Christ, Ali even wobbled to corner after round 3 as if his legs were rubbery..... Ali showed little to no emotion between rds as he sat on his stool.... He was a friggin' ghost..... BUT!! This was not just due to father time / age, this was a man clearly sick and suffering from various forms of obstacles sustained from all his classic wars with the greats.... Plus, I contend that Ali probably began suffering from the effects of Parks syndrome as early back as 1978 when he was messin' with Leon Stinks.... Ali looked horrid against Berbick in 1981....

I think it shows Ali's greatness that he was competitive with Berbick at all.

Never watched it and never will.

 

yeah especially fighting with parkinsons. he couldn't pass their simple tests but they let him fight on. desparate.

 

But don't forget, he was matched with Berbick afterall. Not a young big hitter which would have very very bad and he really could have been hurt. Berbick was considered a durable strong guy in good shape but he certainly was not thought of as any kind of hitter. Not a dangerous guy.


What happens if Ali is getting hit a ton by guys with snap on their punches at that stage of the game?

 

As gone as Ali was,I'd have still taken this version to have beaten the Mike tyson who lost to Mcbride. Ali was still competitive against Berbick,due to his ring generalship.
