When JMM's cut opened up in the late rounds under his eye, Nacho put a multicolored rubberband-like thing in Marquez's eye to stop the bleeding. What is of importance is that he LEFT IT IN THERE and sent JMM to fight.

    2 questions:

    1. What was it?
    2. If it was in there, is that legal?

I'm not sure if Beristain left it in there. Boxers are not allowed to have something hanging in there from their faces. Even excess vaseline is removed.

For the record, it probably has an effect in helping close a laceration for a minimum amount of time.

I've seen Nacho work cuts before, and I just dont like the way he goes about it.

Why someone like JMM and his brother Raphael dont hire a professional cutman is beyond me.

Nacho did a terrible job of stopping the bleeding from JMM's nose when he first fought Pac....
....and then he's using the rubber band, which was'nt effective as it did'nt stop the bleeding in JMM's cut in this fight.

....on the other end, Pac had a real pro in his corner who controlled the bleeding from his cut.

Nacho is old school, and he does these things the old school way.....
.....but with modern medicine and better more modernized techniques to control cuts, its a shame that Nacho himself does'nt realize that he'd do himself and his fighters a favor by hiring a real pro.

very true. i guess it's partly pride. he feels that they are his fighters and that he is a great trainer who does not need help from a cutman.

did you see the rubberband thing? was it left there even after the round break? i didn't notice it.

I'm certain he did'nt. It would have fell off by just JMM moving, much more getting punched at.

Pacquiao's cutman was Joe Chavez, the same cutman employed by De La Hoya (for reference watch the Mayweather-DLH 24/7).
