I am pretty shocked that HBO has agreed to show his fight versus Ray Austin underneath Alexander-Matthysse. I cannot fathom why Ray Austin would ever see the network lights again. Stiverne isn't a kid, either. 32 years old and I'm flat out unfamiliar with the guy. On paper, other than the bogus WBC eliminator at stake, i don't recall many less significant and/or intriguing fights than this one that made it to HBO. I can see by his record that Stiverne has a punch, but what else?
Very dirty fighter with low skills, espect to see in Austin fight dirtyfest, Ray is dirty fighter himself
By the way the only one Stiverne's loss to Demetrius King was complete bull****, it was one of the worst stoppages I've ever seen. It was clearly premature and he simply should not lost that fight.
Take away the stupid eliminator status and it's not a bad fight, a good marker to see how far stiverne could go against a former world title challenger I say that loosely after austins performance against klitschko though
hes originally from haiti, lives in canada. one of these young exciting cats out there to watch for. has excellent power
Bermane is definately a bit of a dark horse in the HW division. Mid-sized heavyweight with real fast hands and good power... He's aggresive, and throws nice combinations... with a variety of punches, including great left hooks to the body. (Don't really know about his defense and chin yet... In his one loss vs King, he was way out of shape, and the stoppage was total bull****) Don King had him on the shelf for so long that nobody knows about him... At 32, it's now or never for him to make some noise... He NEEDS to go out and blast Ray "nine-lives" Austin in impressive fashion to really get the ball rolling. At 6' 2, I don't know if he has the size to compete with the Klits... but I'd consider him a dangerous opponent and very live dog for practically anybody else in the top 10.
I think he'll knock Austin out if he's in good condition. He's one of the most naturally heavy handed fighters in the division today. Very big puncher. The issue with him seems to be his weight but now he's getting close to an elite level, that should be in the past.
