I actually don't disagree that the WBC has manufactured Wilder to a degree. Boxing is a business, and Wilder whatever you want to say about him is good for boxing. They want to get America interested in boxing again and are trying to promote him. And America likes big punchers. Jennings is good but he is not real powerful, so Wilder is their man.

However, that doesn't mean Wilder isn't good, they are just being careful with him to make sure he gets full exposure and lands big paydays before someone takes him out. Not hard to figure out.

That doesn't mean someone WILL take him out, but they are making sure they make off him all that they can.

That isn't necessarily a good thing mind you. I'd rather not see them do with him what Rock Newman did with Rid**** Bowe, built him up with cans then have his career over before he was 30. Of course Wilder is already 30, but still I am afraid his career could follow a similar progression. Not comparing Wilder to Bowe mind you before any Bowe fans go off the deep end, just saying I don't really like the idea of them doing something similar with him.

 

Povetkin has only had one first round knockout in his career in Perez, and that was probably a fluke. Perez showed up for that fight clearly out of shape, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he was payed to take a dive.

 

That was no dive. He got his bell rung.

As for Stiverne he impressed me as an amateur but so did lot of guys. When they turn pro they lose discipline. Look at Solis. Awesome amateur terrible pro. Gonzalez too and now sadly looks that way with Stiverene.

 

Maybe, but he was badly out of shape.

 

atsch Here I thought we had a reasonable Wilder fan. And Perez came in against Povetkin 2 lbs lighter than he did vs Jennings.

 

stiverne's resume is as paper thin as anyone in boxing.

 

I thought he was out of shape in the Jennings fight too. He gassed later on in the fight. I thought that was Jennings worst performance.

His best fight was clearly Takam. Takam fought Povetkin much better.

 

I can't argue. But the two wins over Arreola were good.

 

I thought Takam beat Perez and that a draw for Jennings-Perez would be more justified. But If you claim Perez was paid off to get knocked out when he was clearly hurt like hell, you can't claim Scott didn't take a dive. Or you should be prepared for people claiming Stiverne didn't fight against Wilder.

 

Stiverne was heavier because he wasn't dehydrated lol

You can argue Rossy has at the very least wins as good as Stivernes. People forget that Carl Davis Drumond was highly thought of at one time, and his performance against Chagaev is more impressive than anything Arreola ever managed against an A-Lister. Give me a break with this "Rossy is ****" idiocy.

 

Honestly, the more I look at that knockout, the more I think Scott may have took a dive. But the left hook could have been an equilibrium shot as well. No way of knowing for sure. It is possible to get hit just right.

I do wish it hadn't looked so flimsy.

 

I honestly feel that Zack Page on any given night could duplicate his Charr performance against a flat and out of shape Stiverne.

If Charles Davis could draw and Willie Herring could make it competitive with you... :roll:

 

I don't really claim that he was, I said I wouldn't be surprised. Povetkin's people have deep pockets and Perez looked about as game as a 80 year old man come to fight over a dinner roll. I will concede that the knockout looked more legit than Wilder's over Scott.
