Stiverne definitely showcased some new skills in there last night. He showed he could counter effectively with more than just the left hook and showed greater variety compared to before. He showed composure even when backed up on to the ropes and under fire. He really had Arreola hurt with the body shots in the last round, Arreola was holding on for dear life just to get his breath back.

But he was still only facing Arreola who really isn't difficult to work out. Would like to see Stiverne with a guy who can move and box a bit and see how he deals with having to chase an opponent down rather than just letting his opponent come to him and counter, which clearly suits him.

He himself said that he had a bad day... and he clearly has improved since this fight.
And what is with Fury-Mcdermott I and II? Fury had a very hard fight with this domestic level fighter and got a gift in theire first fight. So your arguement is not really good.

Stiverne was beating Arreola to the punch, Chris was in disbelief at times. He was caught off guard big time, him and his team thought this would be a walk in the park.

Fury was green and very early into his career(still is), Stiverne is what 34? so he's 10 years older than Fury, and has been in the game for a while... Fury also never got stopped by a Journeyman bum like Demetrice King either lol.

    Yep, tose counters were beautiful.

    - But here's the thing, Stiverne's NEXT opponent will NOT be caught off-guard. The opposition now knows what Stiverne brings into the ring, and they will prepare for it.

All props to Stiverne, but I don't think he's fast enough to deal with a really good HW who faces him with the proper gameplan, and 12-round stamina.

True. I don't think Vitali will have any problems if he decides to defend his belt against Stiverne. around a month or so ago he said he will defend against his mandatory(Arreola/Stiverne winner) but like you said, anybody who has a high work rate and can go 12 hard rounds will likely beat Stiverne. (klitschkos, haye, pulev, povetkin, fury, Scott, Chambers and maybe a few others)

Anyone who had watched some of Bermane's fights knew this. But there were quite a few morons on these boards who thought this was an easy fight for Arreola and they have egg on their faces now. :nut:rofl:patsch
