Dunne was on the radio last night talking about his book. He was talking about when he was turning pro, he got a brain scan done and then found a small cyst. Now this was probably something that he was born with, as it never grew in size over his career, but they new that he wouldn't be allowed fight in Britain like he had planned.

He had almost signed with Panos Eliades, Lennox Lewis' promoter, before he found out but he had to cancel on this. They managed to keep it quiet until now so he wouldn't get banned, and he went to the US where they're a bit more lax on these things to start his career instead.

Thought it was interesting. That's why he could never go to the UK to fight Hunter or Munroe, and why instead they were always trying to get Rendall over to Ireland for that fight.

I thought the Munroe fight would of been a career high for him?

Ya he was on for about a half an hour, really good interview, talks about all his big fights, ups and downs of his career, troubles with Brian Peters, sparring with all the greats at Wild Card etc.

It was on the Off the Ball show last night on Newstalk, here's the link to their player. You want to go to the Archive tab, scroll down to Off The Ball, then click on Part 2 of the Tuesday show. He's on from about 4 minutes on, after the news. Let me know if you can't find it.

You ever listen to Off the Ball. Big fan myself, they dont do that much boxing coverage, but they do a bit now and then. They've had Willie Casey on a couple of times now I think, and in the past they've had Bunce, Hopkins, Arum and other people on. They used to get George Kimball on a good bit but haven't heard him in a while.

Never heard of it before. I'll give it a listen after Haye decimates Harrison at this news conference

Looking forward to this now didn't know the troubles with Peters so that should be good to hear. The sparring stories should be a good listen as well.

Do they do much boxing shows off the ball? Getting Kimball, Hopkins and Arum is a pretty big move for an Irish show wouldn't mind listening more often if they get those sort of guests on.

To be honest it's fairly sporadic, especially these days with no Irish stars making headlines (Duddy/Lee/Dunne type of people), but sure I'll post it up in Choi or somewhere if they get somebody good on again.

Just finished listening to it, very good interview with Dunne. Will probably buy the book now as long as there is more of that in it :D
