We're all aware of Hopkins' exploits against the cans he beat in the 90s. And the two good/great thin, small framed Welterweights he knocked out.

But how did he look against the elites his own size? Let's take a look.

Jones Jr.- Hopkins took a lopsided decision loss against a man with 1 functioning hand.

    James Toney- Hopkins ducked him.

    Mike McCallum- Hopkins ducked him.

    Michael Nunn- Hopkins ducked him.

Jermain Taylor- Hopkins was outpointed predictably due to his trouble with speed.

Joe Calzaghe- Again a fighter Hopkins doesn't outsize. An elite who of course beats Hopkins.

Sergey Kovalev- The second best fighter Hopkins has fought. He was shutout.

    Gennady Golovkin- Hopkins not interested.

    There we go.

He did feast on little midgets most of his career.

Never mind that fixed fight vs Oscar.

    Pavlik was dragged up 10lbs.

Johnson was a jobber at 160

Tarver was a good win though.

Doesn't matter. Pavlik and Hopkins were the same size.

GJ beat Tarver when he was #1 @ 175 and KO'ed RJJ. Those are the FACTS. Cut the ****.

    1. Pavlik is an A level fighter. Not an elite p4p type fighter.

    2. Hopkins is bigger. He made his debut at 175 pounds. He's a fairly muscular guy. Pavlik is a slight framed, tall lanky guy.

    3. Johnson is not elite.

    LOL.

    You must be brain dead.

    Jones
    Tarver
    Glen Johnson
    Kelly Pavlik
    Winky Wright
    Chad Dawson

All have better resumes than the TOMATO KAN Krusher...

Maybe, but H2H Kovalev is the 2nd best fighter Hopkins has fought.

Using this logic you need to remove Kovalev and Bumlovkin's names from your list of elite fighters. Pavlik did more in his career than either of those TOMATO CAN Krushers...

p4p is determined by perceived H2H ability. Not on resume.

    NO HE ISN'T.

I'd take Tarver over Kovalev @ 175lbs any day of the week and TWICE on Sunday. Same goes for Joe Calzaghe. Hell, I might even add Dawson's name to that list...

Anybody on this thread that actually think Hopkins wasn't an elite p4p fighter dksab. Size doesn't mean anything in boxing. Especially if it is only a few inches. If they weigh the same then the shorter guy has the advantage because he has more strength due to more muscle. The taller guy's weight is made up of more natural tissue other than muscle.

It's obvious that YDKSAB. P4P has *nothing* to do with head to head, Einstein.

Do you think Kovalev beats Hopkins head to head @ 160lbs?

    I didn't think so.

    Try getting a CLUE...
