I never said Hopkins wasn't a p4p fighter. All I said was he kept losing against elites his own size.
Ok, p4p equalizes weight. That's why we call it pound for pound. p4p is a head to head ranking saying who are the best fighters if size wasn't a factor.
EXACTLY - and using that criteria; Pavlik Jones Wright Calzaghe Taylor Trinidad Tarver de la Hoya are ALL ahead of Kovalev...
Good job of leaving guys out like Tarver, Pascal Cloud Shumenov and Pavlik to push your agenda all bigger and all of which he beat.
Wow not seen a Hopkins hater thread in a while, good to see there are still plenty of butthurt haters here and that Hopkins still get under their skin. :happy
If you look at all the "p4p" greats through the years, almost to a man they had size advantage over their opponents. Even if they didn't have weight advantage, they were generally taller with longer arms. It is freakishly rare for an undersized fighter to dominate a division.
Threat starter is a hater and is pretty ignorant. Other then Tito and DLH what midgets was he fighting? Check boxrec people....lots of the guys he faced when he was at middleweight were pretty much the same size as him.
The fact that Johnson was a champion at 175 yet couldn't cut the mus**** at 160 and 168 just shows how weak the 175 division was at the time. No edit that.... Johnson at 160 had fought 8 out of 32 opponents who had winning records.... At 168 he was a journeyman
Johnson has better wins @ 175 than Kovalev does, Einstein. Now, what were you saying about how weak 175 was?
Based on what? Having to have a trilogy with Woods? Beating a Tarver who whilst talented is hit and miss? Tarver wouldn't beat any of the current top 5 today. Beating an uninterested, post PED Jones Jr? 175 was weak post Michalczweski and prime Jones jr....Again it shows that a guy who couldn't cut it against the 160 and 168lbers was a top 3 fighter. But then again it was full of AmeriCANS so therefore it must be better. Kovalev beats Dawson, Tarver, Johnson and pre PED jones.
Pavlik and Tarver were good wins. In both, Bhop came in an underdog. He got incredibly lucky with Pavlik's alcoholism and Tarver's weight exploits, but that's hardly Bhop's fault. But in general, you're right. Bhop did make a name beating up two welterweight stars.
