Not really. Toney is better inside fighter, more slick and is master of fighting in pocket. Also Toney has more power in his punches, better chin and faster hands

Bhops is my boy and I'll pick Bhops over Toney any day, but prime for prime h2h, Toney back in the day the one that waxed Nunn that boy would of sparked Bhops or any of those Euro fighters at the time from Eubank to Collins or anyone else with the exception of RJ of course. Today Bhops would wax that chunky ass.

And chronically suspectible to movers or someone with a long consistent jab due to average footwork, even in his prime. People mention the Nunn win, but fail to mention he was being outclassed most of the fight.

"Slick" - the most poorly used word in the ESB dictionary.

Toneys problems with movers are exaggerated.

People who mention that Toney was outclassed in Nunn fight fail to realize, that Toney was setting Nunn up with body punching and then KOd him. It was no lucky shot
    Toney performed masterfully

I think most fight fans will agree that Toney is slick fighter

I don't like the term "setting him up", more wearing him down - but I guess it's fundamentally correct all the same. I still believe that if Toney was as good as some believed he was, he'd have got a few more rounds in the bag even while employing his tactics.

This is the main reason why I would have always picked Hopkins over Toney. Hopkins movement and economic style would give Toney fewer openings than most people he fought.

Also compare their respective performances against Roy Jones Jr. Toney barely won a round while Hopkins won 4 rounds on all 3 judges scorecards. While this type of comparison against a common opponent doesn't always tell the whole story it is still significant.

Hopkins backed out previously when a fight with Toney was announced so unless Hopkins has it all in his favour, dont count on it happening. remember Hopkins wouldnt rematch Jones when Jones was LHW champ, wouldnt fight Calzaghe, changed his mind about fighting B Mitchell and backed out of Toney.
Hopkins only took the Jones and Calzaghe fights when he had things in his favour
