In fact, this may be the right time for all of us to let out our bent up frustrations about the torture that we endured during Jermain Taylor's fraudulent title run for spiritual healing.:yep We can also take the time to slash Joy Boy something terrible.
The two Taylor losses hurt his positioning, but a win over Joe at age 43 when virtually nobody picks him...that would be special. Funny enough, I rewatched Taylor/Hopkins 2 yesterday (very exciting, I know), and Merchant/Kellerman were talking about his extraordinary talent and how he was going to become boxing's next big crossover star. Nothing against Jermain, but next month will mark the beginning of the end.
Oh I hate that awful Taylor and his apologist/booster set of hoodlums for fans. The media is such a disgrace hyping that piece of garbage.
Actually, the more I think about it, Ouma and Spinks were made to give Taylor problems. And Pavlik is just a bad matchup. At 168, he would probably beat Calzaghe or Kessler. I'm sure he would beat Bute and Mundine:nut
I like Hopkins a lot, but correct me if i'm wrong, didn't he feast on janitors his entire career? I have a couple of his fights and I'm looking over his career record right now...his biggest wins are against a Trinidad and Delahoya who are all smaller and had to go up in weight. He lost twice to Jermain Taylor who I think is an ok middleweight. I don't particularly think much of Tarver, but I'll consider it a decent win for B-Hop.
Its all good. Everyone HAS to be a little biased towards their favorite guy. Mine is obviously Hagler, whom I rank at #15 on my atg list. I realize its lower than everyone else ranks him (more than likely), but what can I say; he's marvelous!
As Hopkins and Calzaghe both stand now their records are very similar, although its Calzaghe who gets all the flack for his record. Hopkins has fought 3 all-time greats in Jones, Tito and De la Hoya. He lost to one and beat the other two yet especially with Oscar they were not at their natural weight. The other fighter by the name of Winky Wright was then asked to move up 15lbs to fight him at light heavy, and Hopkins beat him in an ugly fight. Other than beating Tarver Hopkins record isnt that impressive apart from the number of defense's he made. As he stands now i would put Hopkins anywhere between 30 and 40? if he beats Calzaghe which i think he has a good chance(i think his style may be all wrong for him), he moves up between 20 -30?
Not sure why everyone gives Hopkins flack for fighting Winky above his natural weight....does everyone forget that 170 (where they fought) is also far above Hopkins natural weight?
Lol, I think youy do not understand the context of why that list was posted, read back, and you will understand.
