Is it possible Bernard Hopkins could be on steroids given his resurgence and success at such a late age?

This is a serious thread so please no trolling. I'm of the belief it is a very real possibility Hopkins may also be on performance enhancers.

    Vote and discuss.

    Dominance?

No, btw. You have to be suspicious of every top level athlete in every sport to some degree, but Hopkins would be towards the very bottom of that list for me.

Obviously anyone can be juicing, but Hopkins sure as hell doesn't look like he is. He looked old as **** and pretty thin to me. Not even a lot of muscle.

    Hard work and craft.

What's interesting is that he looked like he was fading a bit a few years ago against Taylor and Calzaghe, but despite being older, he actually looked better against Pavlik, Pascal and now against Cloud.

Pavlik and Cloud are straight forward pressure fighters not known for being particularly fast of hand or foot. Pascal, while awkward and physically talented, fights at a slow pace, takes breaks, and isn't exactly ring smart.

Taylor and Calzaghe were both quick fighters, the former who fought a very cautious fight against a likely drained Hopkins and the latter a smart fighter who forced a fast pace on him. Plenty of people still think he won each of those fights though.

Hopkins of just about the entire past decade needs a favorable style match if he is to beat top contenders/champions.

shows why Bernard is a master-class: he beat Pavlik, Pascal and Cloud by using the right tactics: against Pavlik and Pascal he used aggression, against Cloud he used movement to keep a young, usually aggressive puncher at bay, the Calzaghe and Taylor fights could of gone either way to be fair, both were that close

its very possible, I look at his last two fights he just couldnt pull the trigger, now all the sudden he is re invented again... I wouldnt rule it out the man is 48 he is doing the impossible at an age where he shouldnt be.

anybody who suggest he is clean and there is no way is simply being biased.... its a real possibility

Steroids aren't a magical potion that give you extra powers. They "unnaturally" enhance your body's capacity to train and recover. I can't see how it could possibly benefit an older fighter, as their body would have to already be able to take the higher intensity of training on its own. He's not bigger, stronger, or much more durable in terms of stamina than anyone in his weight class. But he is smarter.

I'm dying to hear what this steroid is that can make you punch harder/look better against such and such etc.

Steroids work during training, not on the night, and how does that explain Chad Dawson?
Is Chad's style "immune to steroid cheats"?
The bitterness on here is top notch.Bernard picks fights that he thinks are winnable, which he's perfectly entitled to,because he knows or thinks he knows who he can conserve energy and exploit most.
A guy is making the most of leaving a legacy driven by hard work, determination and a steely determination to pay back the world for what he perceives as disrespect.
I suspect if he was fighting nowadays Marvin Hagler would've got a good few more years out of his career.
And as for anyone who doesn't think he is on PEDs being biased...
I'll leave that one hanging out there.

You must have missed his jump to 175 lbs.

In six months time he went from fighting Taylor at 160 lbs to officially looking bigger and stronger than lightheavyweight champ champ Antonio Tarver.

I dont know where you get that nothing about him physically screams steroids when Hopkins physique right off the bat just stepping into lightheavyweight was impressive.

Add to that that Hopkins was the only one on the GBP side to take Pacquiao's side and diss Mayweather for insisting on legitamate PED testing, then Hopkins went haywire at his press conference with Jean Pascal when Pascal challenged him for both to test for PED's, and its the opposite of what you're saying bball. Lots of Hopkins actions point to possible PED use.

Could be? But Hopkins hasn't been winning with physical ability, his wins have been coming off of traps and brains

watch the way he fights and tell me if steroids would even make that much of a difference
he has a low workrate and his speed and power isnt anything amazing
its just his angles and timing and smarts that keep him winning, plus his body always looks terrible if he was on roids he'd probably have a 6 pack
