Spot on. HGH does nothing for strength stamina or reflexes. I took it for 11 months and all it did do was decrease body fat locally where it was injected which was the stomach, and stop my hair greying and kept my bodyweight down and perhaps helped with even deeper sleep but thats it.
Anyone who knows anything about boxing can see fast athletic fighters trouble hopkins...come forward brawlers he eats up easily..nothing about him says steriods..he hasnt had a knockdown in damn near a decade,if he is not fighting his slow pace he has stamina issues
Oh my goodness whoah nellie Marvin would have fought another 5 years at the very top level and he was really 34 when he last fought not 32.
Rather bluntly put but yeah, most people just don't understand what they are reading. And press releases are the last place to look for facts. Scientific studies on doping usually suffers from several problems. The researchers don't know how much dopers takes (or it would be unethical to give such high doses). They don't know how they take it. They don't know how to train while on them. They don't know what else to take. They often have small sample sizes and thus little statistical power to detect performance effects (here's where meta sudies can come in, though, like that epo one that was linked). They don't understand the sports they are projecting their results on. They, by study design, ignore individual differences (meaning what helps someone little might help someone else a lot). And also, a negative result often gains as much attention as a positive result so there's little reason to spend the considerable amount of resources that would be necessary for high quality studies.
In the next few years, should anyone bother to do the research, we will likely see an increase in longevity across all sports for this time, compared to say 10 or 20 years ago. This is surely linked to the use of PEDs. Don't only think of PEDs as something that will kill you (at least not very quickly). You can also think of it as medicine - something that will help you. With whatever it is that you need help with.
Once again I addressed fighters getting more credit just for being more entertaining but when those same guys come across the B-Hops, Wards and Floyds they look like **** and for good reason. Anyone can play chin pal. Not everyone can be Ali, SRR, B-Hop, Floyd, Ward, Sweet Pea. JMM is a punching bag with a good chin. B-Hop is the 9th wonder of the world.
Aww c'mon in all fairness Hopkins beat Calzaghe & Taylor both times he just didnt get the decision he deserved. Prof Hopkins held another boxing class WTG Executioner
I am pretty sure almost all fighters are on PEDs - Floyd, Khan, Pac, Marquez, Wlad etc etc esp. the American fighters since they get caught on the regular. However, I would be SHOCKED if B-Hop took PEDs, his ego is just too damn big to allow him to do that.
Do you also put people's longer life expectancy down to PEDs? Fact is a 48 year old in 2013 is not like a 48 year old in 1913.
Bernard Hopkins and Steroids! Nothing could be as far from non-linkable as those two names. And for those who think differently on the topic answer me this, judging by the way he performed in his two fights with Chad Dawson, and mainly the 2nd fight, if B-Hop was on any kind of major PED whatsoever wouldn't it had helped him perform more aggressively and better regardless of Dawson's wrong style like technique against Hopkins and with it hepled B-Hop possible come up with the win. And on another note Hopkins impressive showcase against Tavoris Cloud in taking the ladders IBF Lightheavyweight belt and Dawson being completely dismantled by the very humble and fairly charismatic Andre Ward completely proves now that Dawson's win over Hopkins was just a way for "Bad" Chad to get a legendary name under his belt and at the same time not go through the same tough accolades that B-Hop went through to earn his legendary status he, and most notably with the win on saturday against Cloud, still enjoys today.
And just to add more to my previous discussion on an ending note, it's not just skills and physical gifts that win it all in boxing it's also the strong positive mental play that wins it as well and even with recent losses to B-Hop I personally think that both T. Cloud and Jean Pascal would beat Chad Dawson for his Lineal title at 175 and even Ward would beat Dawson again and at that weight (175).
When statements are made to the effect that all top fighters are using steroids,it seems to me that the indiviuals making those statements are merely projecting the larceny in thier own hearts. I refuse to believe that coruption is that rampant. Mental losers use steroids. Winners are strong mentally and believe in themselves and the hard work and dedication ( to borrow a phrase ) they put in to get get where they wanna go.:bbb
More than half the ESB voters think Hop has improved at a late age because of dedication and hard work.
About the original topic...yes Nard maintains a lifestyle that enables a man his age to stay as healthy and fit as possible, and yes he has developed uncanny saavy and ring smarts. So as maintained, I don't think he is a prime suspect for use....but he is definitely an anomaly and a marvel to be doing what he does at this age...juiced or not...or else quite a few other 50 year olds would have been world class and relevant throughout ther history of the sport. He deserves a lot of respect. However, him using would not come as an absolute shock...it is a dirty sport, with big money on the line, and other motiuvating factors to look for thqat extra edge to stay at the top. That is just common sense to say it may not be probable, but is not impossible. I have to agree with dealt with, that true anabolics and androgens and beta 2's are just giving placebo effect....it is the biggest perpetuating scam in the history of sport that PED use will help an athlete, and it is all mind games causing improvements....i mean look at; - the sudden rise and dominance of the chinese womens olympic swim team, who were subsequently caught doping - the former soviet unions drug regime and total dominance in international competition - the east germans olympic weightlifting team using oral turinabol as a main staple in their training regime - the steroid era in baseball with inflated power numbers, which has been exposed through admission and tests showing steroid use - the cycling culture and doping - the olympic sprinting and doping - ben johnson, marion jones, barry bonds, mark mcgwire, lance armstrong, holyfield, jones, tarver, toney, peterson, morales, a long list of mma fighters, rafael palmero, alex rodriguez, ......lattimer in the movie the program, i mean even hollywood thinks it is placebo. 50-60 years of a perpetuating myth covering all major sports and all tytpes of athletes....yep totally ineffective. Horses receive equibolan and clenbuterol, among other things that are used by humans as PEDs......purely for the placebo effect, and not because it helps increase their work capacity, maximal output and endurance....cause racehorses can experience placebo. Fair points made on all sides, and none are totally incorrect, however it is hard to believe that people regardless of academic experience (which does not equate to high functioning intellect), lifestyle or exposure to these things cannot look at the interactions and mechanisms of action these substances have in the body, and the effect on human physiology, which coupled with training for sport, can aid is athletic performance....since sports requires physical effort. I mean, it is so simple a child can connect the dots. And yes, quantifying how much they help from individual to individual is very difficult....because overall talent, potential, work ethic, mental approach and determination all play a part as well in being successful as an athlete. But to say PEDs do not help at all is absolutely ridiculous. Peace to all.
