Bernard Hopkins could defeat Wladimir and this is why!

I am as big a Bernard Hopkins fan as anyone else on this site.

I am a severe critic of Wladimir Klitschko. I don't really rate the guy at all.

But this thread is not grounded in reality. Wlad would punch Hopkins out. Suggesting otherwise is lunacy.

If that's the way you take it, then you truly are ignorant about boxing.

If you describe headbutting and tying your opponent up as skillful, then john Ruiz and B-hop have been the most skilled and entertaining fighters over the last ten years.

You need to get a clue or stop stroking your man B-hop!!

I am not sure that he is a loon for not agreeing with this post. i do agree with you that Hops is a master technician and adapted as well mentally in changing his style as his physical skills erode. I am not sure who was beeter that younger more aggressive Hopkins or this cagey Vet of the last 5 years. I disagree with Link suggesting that Hops chooses not to put his skill on display, but rather utilizes as strengths as some of those skill dwindle. Having said that I still can't see him doing enough to hurt either guy, that would enable to get involved in more exchanges necesary to win these fights in a convincing manner. The best I could hope for is that these fight do not occur, and if they do the best I can hope for there is that he does just enough to avoid getting KO'd and win or lose a close decision. When he fights more cautious he does not seem to get the nod of the judges ala Taylor I & II...I believe this would be a similar outcome, with 3 guys he has more reason to avoid than taylor..I still hope Hop's retires, but I wished that 3 years ago. Still love him though!

Not sure why you need to hate on B-Hop to try and prove your point that it's not LIKELY that he would win these fights. As Hops physical skills erode his ring generalship has increased. If you don't find that skillfull (regardless of wether or not you find it pleasent to watch), I am not sure who is skillful???

History is filled with greats who operated inside of the confines of the rules yet pushed them as well: Ali, Tyson, Holyfield just to name a few have done the things you listed. that does not detract from thier greatness but shows their ability to thrive within the rules..same with B-Hop by my take.

Nobody holds worse than Ruiz................or Hopkins for that matter. Wlad held a lot in one fight, the Sam Peter one to be exact.

OK, RJJ beating Ruiz was a great achievement, most people accept that. But Ruiz is not a huge heavy by todays standards, is slow, not very mobile and has limited skills. Imagine if instead of Ruiz, RJJ had fought Lennox Lewis, not only would RJJ have lost but he would have been in very real danger of getting seriously hurt. I imagine even RJJ himself would admit this. Now Wlad may not be as good as Lewis but he does have decent skills, and more importantly is is 6' 7 and weights over 240 pounds.

Pacquiao beating De La Hoya was also a massive shock. But the natural size difference between Pacquiao and De La Hoya would seem about as substantial as a nats fart compared to the natural size difference between Wlad and Hopkins.

I agree and I think weight classes should be abolished as well - they clearly have no bearing on a fight
Then we could finally have a fight between Amir Kham and Audley Harrison to find out who is the greatest boxer in the history of the sport!

This guy seriously knows nothing about the sport. Nothing. If he's not trolling nationalities or jerking off over chins he is exposing his lack of knowledge and complete and utter stupidity to the entire forum.
