Bernard Hopkin's - Cruiserweight Champion

I think what Jones did was more historic IMO, though Hopkins beating Adamek would be pretty substantional when looking at the fact he would be like 44 by the time he fights him. Which that alone says something about how damn good B-Hop truly is.

I actually can see him beating Adamek in a close fight, one where Hopkins takes some pretty heavy blows to get the win. Though him fighting at Heavyweight is kinda stretch, the division currently sucks balls, but at his age he can possibly get hurt by Valuev or Chagaev. Though I would be pretty cool to see him fight the giant Valuev, now if he won that too, I would have no problem defintely putting him in my top 10 ATG list, maybe even top 5. Hopkins would of won titles in 4 different weight classes, ruled a division for 10 years. I dont think any man won a belt at Heavyweight and Cruiser after the age 40, it would nothing short of amazing if he was able to do that.

 

Be a very good win regardless...Adamek is borderline p4p at the moment and is defo the best in his division, add to the fact Nard is out of his prime it would give him a decent boost in alltime standings.

 

Hopkins could potentially be the oldest man to ever win the HW title (albeit, a fragment) if he picked off a beltholder in the next few years...

 

I think Forman was what, 45 or 46 when he won it in 95'? It would be crazy to see B-Hop do it, but I guess considering the Heavyweight landscape, nows the best time to do it.

 

He would skyrocket up the all-time great list if he became Cruiserweight/Heavyweight champion; Middleweight most of his career and over 40.

 

If Bernard Hopkins steps up to cruiser and beats Adamek, I personally would place him in the top 30 OAT.

The key to beating Hopkins, in my opinion, would be to steal a page from the Pastrano-Johnson fight and emulate Pastrano's strategy of using those legs of his all night and REFUSING to lead, as he did against master technician Johnson, thus removng him from his comfort zone and forcing him to take the role of aggressor. Jab, jab, jab and then jab some more, using the right only sparly, and then only as a counter. Constantly moving and making Hopkins use those old legs of his. A guy like Chad Dawson could do this, which is why Hopkins probsbly wants nothing to do with him. Read from the book "In This Corner" by Peter Heller in the chapter on Pastrano where he describes and outlines that very fight and the successful strategy he used to unseat Johnson. In that same book it would be intersting to read the chapter on Carlos Ortiz and use the strategy he used successfully against Joe Brown to defeat him for the lightweight title. Boxing and moving with focus and a disciplined strategy would work against Hopkins, not that dumb "come straight in and slug" approach that Pavlik used.

 

Chad Dawson ? he has nothing for Bernard Hopkins. He got a gift decision against an old Glen Johnson whereas Hopkins shutout and stopped a prime undefeated Glen Johnson. Chad Dawson can't hurt B-Hop, has a questionable chin and is a sucker for the right hand. B-hop just embarsses all those southpaws.

Adamek ? that's a dangerous fight for a 44 years old Hopkins because of the size difference and Adamek's granite chin and devestating punching power. But the reward is big, being the man in another weight class. It's a 50-50 fight at 200. At 175 Hopkins beats Adamek seven days a week.

 

I think Hopkins takes this by UD. Hes way too intelligent to let Adamek get his shots off. All Hopkins would have to do is ensure his stamina holds up. Due to Hopkins skills I think he would win a clear UD. Bit harsh on Adamek but if Hopkins fights his fight he wins

 

It'd be a fantastic achievement as Adamek is very much the man at cruiser. While it wouldn't be as historic as Jones' win it might be more significant in that Adamek is a very dangerous fighter and on the cusp of being p4p rated. He'd be in my top 30 and ahead of Roy

Every time B-Hop fights I'm a little worried that he's going to get old in the ring and take a beating. So far so good though.

I say he already is, quite clearly.

A 44 year-old natural Middleweight beating the true Cruiserweight champion is impressive. Adamek is a very good fighter himself and if Hopkins were to win (which I would expect barring him getting shot overnight), then he'd move up several spots on the all time list. I'd already place him inside the 30-40 range, and if he beats Adamek, he becomes closer to the 30 mark than the 40. If he manages another one-sided performance, I don't think top 30 is out of reason.

 

Yet most yanks accuse JC of ducking him mmmm
