As I said, Playing devils advocate. There is no actual lineal title. It's a theory. Whoever beats the man gets it.

Floyd is ducking GGG, GGG is ducking Ward and Hopkins, Ward is ducking Kovalev. Why do the divisions even exist?

    Good question.

    Paper titles are MEANINGLESS.

There's NOTHING particularly impressive about knocking over a string of TOMATO CANs.

Top 10 in the ****tiest division in all of boxing...

And he'll never be a Bernard Hopkins...

Murray didn't beat Martinez. Get over it already.

    No, Genius.

Cotto is the middleweight champ. Stevenson is the 175lb champ.

I'm not going to get into this argument again. There's no end to it. Do you believe Ward is the only guy under 175 that beats Golovkin?

Any fight contested at a weight above 168lbs and below the 175lb limit is a light heavyweight fight, Einstein.

When did you start watching boxing? Yesterday?

Since Gennady offered to meed Ward halfway, but the Coward won't fight without a huge size advantage.
Golovkin also offered to sweat off 6 lbs to meet Floyd, but then he is being a coward for that too, right? Because Floyd is smaller than him. Yet Ward is not a coward for calling out GGG and then refusing to lose 4 lbs to meet him halfway. Obviously you guys are just hating to hate and not using your brains at all.
Plus, by saying GGG must move up to find a challenge, you are clearly acknowledging the fact that no man in the entire world can beat Gennady Golovkin in a boxing match at 164 or less, correct?
Or are you going to duck the question again?

    Pavlik-Hopkins-Dawson-Stevenson.

If you want to argue that Hopkins didn't fight Pavlik at 160 that's fine but Cotto didn't fight Martinez at 160 either.

From wikipedia :D :the lineal championship of a weight class is a world championship title that exists only in theory, but represents an attempt at crowning one "true" champion. A lineal championship begins at a moment in time at which a boxer/kickboxer/MMA fighter can be universally acclaimed as the best in the class. Another competitor can win the lineal championship only by defeating the reigning lineal champion in the ring or the cage.

What? I've actually followed boxing for a while now and haven't heard of this. Catchweights don't automatically mean it's in the division above. Canelo isn't fighting at middleweight right now. And ward isn't fighting at Light heavyweight.

No. Cotto and Canelo are both 50/50 fights, IMO. Lara takes him the distance and could conceivably get a decision. There are probably a few 154lb'ers on their way up who could beat him too...

Since when is 158 the MW upper limit? Oh wait, since the lineal MW champ decided this is the new limit. Nevermind 150 years of history.

    Really?

So then why was Bumlovkin ok with 168lbs for the Chavez and Froch fights?
