Bernard Hopkins DID NOT try to win the fight vs The Krusher

    Hopkins does not care...all his recent fights have been for $$$ onoly. The felon tries to trick people into thinking it's for "legacy", but it's all about the $.

    The damn felon wasn't even throwing punches. It was a pathetic display. Run around the ring, bend at the waist and throw an occasional jab.

    He couldn't earned Kovalev respect with his lack of pop in his punches. It seems like it was two guys from a different weight class that were fighting. We don't have to look further than that IMO. B-Hop was in survival mode from round 1 to 12. Respect.

    Exactly. Saying things as the OP did shows he has no clue who Bernard Hopkins is and no clue about boxing. Bernard is set on money, this was for legacy. He wanted to win, winning and accomplishments are everything for Hopkins, he just couldn't find a way to win here. If you saw the post fight presser, you heard Hopkins say he felt like a SMW in there vs a Cruiserweight. Kovalev shut him down with power and tactics. Plain and simple. Between Kovalev's power and JDJ's gameplan, Hopkins was beaten and he knew it. There was no reason for him to risk his health being flagrant and desperate, hence he played defense and hoped Kovalev would make a mistake and deviate from the gameplan, but Kovalev never did.

    Hopkins wanted to win..until the end of the first round.
    After that he forgot about winning.

    He can say he tried this he tried that, I didnt see it.
    He didnt really try anything.

    There is truth here. All respect to Hopkins he is a legend and fights everyone. However after the first round kd Hopkins clearly went into survival mode. I think he realized he couldn't open up on Kovalev like he has in past too much firepower coming back in return. He basically retreated and feinted remainder of the fight. Crafty yes but he never tried to go for it and win or go out on his shield.

    He was scared of Kovalev's power from the beginning and when he got hit early he went into retreat mode for the rest of the fight. It wasn't just about power either, Kovalev boxed Hopkins' ears off.

    You dont know what you were watching if you think hopkins was just trying to survive. Hopkins of all people could have made it real ugly, with a lot of holding, not to mention flat out running (see may maidana round 12) and could have done a lot of spoiling if his goal was just to survive.

    But hopkins threw more punches in the 10th then he did any round previous in the fight, same in the 11th, and threw his fight high output in the 12th, while also taking a beating.

    Seeing an old man who knows he has nothing left to offer his opponent but keeps calculating and refuses to go away is not the same as seeing a fighter submit.

    If hopkins submitted and was fighting purely to survive you would have seen a totally different last couple of rounds. What you saw was an old fighter who couldnt execute what he wanted to do due to the level and danger of the opponent in front of him.
