He looked fine through the whole episode. Sure, a beep here and there, but it is expected. Boxers live fully, always on the hunt, but they pay the price. He can response swiftly, function on his own, and tell the story of his life on a Joe Rogan podcast. It's fine. He left his legacy, and he has money to pay for his retirement home in some breathtaking part of the country, where he can slide into the abyss. Some broke boxers, I reckon, will end up way worse, dragging everybody around them into the suffering as well.
Didn't watch but Bernard always goes off trying to sound more philosophical than the rest, i'm sure he's okay.
Yeah he's not as fluid with his speech but I wouldn't call that insane CTE. Has he sustained some damage after a long career, yes very likely, he had a lot of fights and his later fights at 175 were against naturally bigger men. But compare him to Bowe or Holyfield and it's not even comparable, he can still speak pretty fluently and doesn't seem to be slurring his words a great deal if at all. Considering he is 58 and had 65 fights, I think he's doing pretty well. Will he have later medical issues due to all the punches he took in his career? Perhaps, but then again he's always lived a very healthy life style and that may off set some of the damage he did to himself in the ring.
Bull****. Not even close. Just see his face off with Pascal He was old as hell there and much better than this.
Tbh he sounds relatively decent for a guy who was fighting at a high level for 20 years. Its probably going to get a lot worse in 5 years time though.
Think this is the only solid answer on this entire thread. He's older and his ability to enunciate has declined a bit (and that happens with age not just pugilism) but overall I'd say cognitively and physically he's still ahead of the curve in relation to his peers. I don't look at him and see CTE........I look at Antonio Brown and see CTE. Hearns and possibly CTE. Not Hopkins.
Bhop did not always talk like this. His words flowed and he was focused in conversation. This video is alarming and I hope that these biased mods monitor and ban any posters for any kind of mockery.
Exageration. He s an ex con without education who boxed from his mid 20 to 51 and is pushing 60 right now and is trying to sound eloquent. I watched the whole podcast-thought it was great.
