Yes but outlanding not by much doesn't always give the right result, since sometimes the opponent has the more meaningful blows in the same round.

Thing is...Calzaghe controlled that fight once he adapted from first few rounds and he didn't let Hops capitalize with counters as much as he wanted to, because of his incredibly awkward style.

Again, Calzaghe won it ugly but clearly.

Hopkins doesn't admit defeat because he clearly thinks he's the best like I think. I mean, this is not nutthuggin but Hopkins is all about self-determination and absolute belief in himself no matter the odds that are against him, age, speed, power, no matter what. The guy is absolutely oblivious to thousands at ringside, knows all the tricks of the game, performs beautifully and most of all,he has abnormal nervs of steele and iceman attitude. I truly believe that Hopkins intimidates every single opponent he faces with his antics and mental games. Gat to love him. He lost to Joe but he still is better than Joe - It's a riddle.

Hopkins dirty tactics in alot of his fights, echols pre trinidad, and with winky as well should have got him dq'd. While his longetivity is impressive, he is overatted overall after so many of his big wins came against smaller men.

On the Calzaghe fight, thats always brought up in here. I am not suprised Hopkins wanted a rematch he looked awful in that fight, he tried to hit Joe with his head, fake low blows to stay in the fight. Calzaghe won about 9rounds to 3. He knows Taylor beat him clearly 7-5 in the second fight too, and does not give him the credit either.

He won that fight. Slappy White should have been DQ'ed for rabbit punching and low blows, but the networks wanted the hype to win with those little female slaps.

Calzaghe only fought bums and old men.

if cal fought like hopkins and hopkins fought like cal, they would say cal dominated hopkins. they would say, he threw 700 punches and ain't land ****, got sat on his ass, and out boxed the whole time. boxing's double standard is with white fighters, not black fighters. the standards for giving fighters the benefit of a doubt goes in this order:
    white
    philipino
    black
    mexican
    other nationalities
    and at the bottom, african.

besides, if at the end of the fight my opponent was bleeding and looked like he got beat up and didn't even know if he won and i looked like i juat finished jogging and landed every meaningful punch the whole fight, I wouldn't call that a defeat either. and neither would you. he admits jones because it was a defeat. taylor 2 is close, but calzaghe and taylor 1? when he was the champion in both fights and made the challengers look like overrated bums? yeah, he should certainly admit defeat for that.... right

If only bernard hopkins was more humble then he would be in my good books.

Calzaghe won the fight for the reasons state already, but all those reasons can basically be summed up by saying Calzaghe just threw and threw and threw and threw and threw. He never really did much boxing, he just overwhelmed an older man who was past his prime and couldn't match the energy.
It was one of those fights where you knew one guy was a much more talented boxer, but just wasn't allowed to get off because of the constant barrage of pitty pat punches coming his way. That in and of itself bugs people, so they want to give it to Hopkins.
Calzaghe really wasn't anything special, and his post-career cocaine scandal makes people wonder where he got all that energy in his fights.

Hops ego is a HUGE factor in his success, as was Roys. Without it, I doubt he would ever be who he is. I never want Hops to change, the sport needs that ****.

Ive been watchig boxing 30 years and have been boxing 15. Im very familiar with the judges scoring criteria and hopkins clearly won the fight. Slapping air and glove is not a scoring blow. Niether is uneffective agression.
