    It's not absolute bollocks mate, it's absolute f**king bollocks x 1000!

Where do these guys get these theories from?

Where has this common misconception come from, that today's boxers are better, and skills have improved, because of sports science and nutrition etc?

They see that swimming records and track and field records have been broken, and then assume that today's boxers are the best.

    F**k off with that ****!

Just because Usain Bolt is the fastest man ever, it doesn't mean that Dawson and Bute would beat Spinks and Foster, and Haye would beat Frazier and Ali etc.

I had someone tell me a few months ago, that Diego Maradona wouldn't be able to compete in today's game.

    Ha!

    WTF?

These guys need a history lesson.

Boxing isn't like any other sports!

    Skills don't progress every decade.

The majority of today's best guys, would get their ass handed to them by their predecessors!

    There's countless examples to give.

Put Gamboa and Burns in with Duran.

Put Floyd in with SRL and Hearns.

Put Alvarez in with Hearns and McCallum.

    Put Fury in with Foreman.

Put Martinez in with Hagler and Monzon.

Floyd is as great as any ATG That dominated their generation. He is shoulder to shoulder with all of them. there is no #1,2, or 3. I don't see how you measure that.

Cheers for that, mate. I'm not knocking all modern fighters by any means, but this **** about technique being better now bugs me no end. Look at films of Ortiz or Harold Johnson; textbook boxers who would thrive today. Compare them to Amir Khan who is basically a very good amateur masquerading as a hardened pro! I despair at times.

Okay, but who else does Ray Leonard have wins over. You people always bring up the same people.

4 people dont make up an entire resume. just stop.

Floyd has a way better resume' than Duran and Leonard.

Leonard loss to Duran and got an absolute gift against Hagler.

Outside of Castillo, there are NO questions on Floyds resume.

This sh** gets on my nerves. Its BOXING. These are MEN, stop making old fighters out to be Gods. Its so annoying as if EVERY old fighter would beat EVERY new fighter. thats trash.

Martinez beats Hagler. too much speed.
    Alvarez loses to Hearns.
Fury gives Foreman a decent matchup and still loses.
Floyd beats Hearns worse than Sugar Ray.
And Duran is the most overrrated fighter ever.

I thought you stated that it was about who you faced, not the number of people? If we judge on quality rather than quantity, then Leonard is far above Mayweather's resume.

    Er...

Care to explain that? Mayweather's best wins are probably Corrales and a faded De La Hoya. Those are good, but do you seriously think that compares to Leonard's best wins?

Duran and Hagler are legendary fighters, and better than anyone on Mayweather's record. Even Roger Mayweather said that Duran would be a 'tough' fight for Mayweather Jr. (And there are some people who would argue that Duran would beat him.)

As for Leonard getting a 'gift' against Hagler -- it was actually a genuinely close fight, and fans are usually split on who really won. You can make a case for both fighters. That's not a 'gift'.

But he hasn't fought the same level of competition as Leonard. He compares well to Leonard in terms of talent and skill -- in terms of resume, Leonard is far above him.

Floyd's resume is weak. It is composed of carefully hand picked opponents. Floyd's fans always try to overrate him. Hopkins of course will try to hype and overrate Floyd, because it means money and good for business.

Floyd is an ATG no doubt. While he doesn't generate much excitement with casuals, his skills are the top of this generation. But if you think he has faced the level of competition at this stage as the other guys on the lists above, YDKSAB. He dodged the one guy at the peak of his career that everyone wanted him to fight. Like it or not that will always be a stain on his legacy.

    Who else??

Just those wins alone eclipse anything that Floyd has done.

Floyd hasn't beaten an ATG in their prime.

How the hell does Floyd have a way better resume than SRL and Duran?

You've got to be having some fun.

    What's Floyd's best win?

you really don't know what the **** you're talking about. Leonard lost to perhaps the greatest lightweight ever, a fighter who I personally think would beat Floyd. And no Leonard didn't get a gift decision against Hagler and what about the two wins over Hearns. Floyd sure as hell isn't beating Hearns, no how, no way. How old are you? 20?

Their resumes don't come close if compared to each other. Nothing wrong with liking Floyd but keep things into perspective.
