and people still consider him P4P material...
He won against a much smaller Winky.

I really hope Pavlik sends him to the retirement home...

true but his fight with calzaghe was a close fight, and so were the taylor fights.
the tarver fight was a good win on his part. but the winky was much smaller and in his worng wieght class.loads of fighters go through spells of losing.

there is a small percentage between winning and losing.

i thikn pavlik will get oufoxed for a while then back up bernard and outpoint hopkins.

I actually thought Winky got a raw deal, but no one seems to think so and probably because it was such an ugly fight. Nard got credit as a lot of fighters do for punching Winky's gloves and elbows. I think his improbable win against a very dangerous and consensus #1 Light Heavy in Tarver overshadows a lot of his his recent shortcomings though because he wasn't dominated in any of his losses. I definitely don't consider him P4P anymore, but I do still consider him a threat to anyone in his division.

Rafael Marquez lost his last two.

They lost to very highly ranked opponents in very close fights.

Huh? Winky was taken to school. His jab found nothing but air. I thought Hopkins dominated the fight.

The guys a 'not so live wire' but that wire should'nt be underestimated. Nard is a much, much better boxer right now than most give him credit for. He is clearly unique in this respect. People seem to like to forget that in truth he did'nt become great till he was 35ish and from that point on got better and better. He's also adapted his style as only really great fighters can do.

I understand that he is 43 but for him that aint no thing. But for us, well we look on wondering is it real? can it last? none of us really truely if were being honest with ourselfs think it can go on much longer but in this fight we really will see. I want Kelly to win, i like him, i think everyone does but on no account, on any planet in any universe does that mean that you could for even one secound count out Bernard. He is a legend and should be considered dangerous untill whenever he retires

Who gives a **** if he lost his last 3 fights? He's been taking on the best. Fair enough he has'nt actually attempted to box since 2005 but when Nard spends all night with the sole aim of making you look bad then no matter who you are your in trouble and if your not really, really good then he can 'just' edge it over anyone.

See,that's what I mean. Even the commentating team was making it sound like Nard was a greek God. Neither man did any dominating and no one was teken to school in that fight as it was a very ugly affair. However, I thought Winky landed the cleaner blows and B-Hop got a lot of credit for a lot of shots on the gloves.

Do me a favor, actually watch the fight.

Here's all you need to know about this fight. Harold Lederman, who was so biased AGAINST Hopkins, scored it a draw. So if a guy that tries his best to give the other guy the fight has it a draw, you know who won. The official scores were 117-111x2 and 116-112. And i thought accurate.

He's clearly not all there now, and gassing badly; but to be fair to him the Calzaghe fight was a close one, and he turned over Tarver as well. I perhaps would have him a little lower in the list then Ring does at the mo'.

I thought Winky was schooling Hopkins in the early rounds. But, Bernard's constant holding and grinding eventually wore Mr. Krispy Kreme down.

Winky was the aggressor but he was just out of his realm. The extra weight made him slower and Hopkins neutralized his jab with movement. And when Winky came inside, Hopkins got the better of the exchanges. Winky really did look somewhat ametuerish in this one IMO. A stark contrast from his showings against Trinidad, Mosley, and Quartey.

Also, i think the judges could hear the impact of the punches better. Winky's punches seemed to have nothing on them while Hopkins' punches were hard and flush.

Actually, in round one, Hopkins actually buckles Winky's knees with a right hand counter. If anyone has a gif, you can see it.
