Bernard Hopkins held his own very well against that drunkard Larry Merchant!!

That "fight" was a disgrace

Thanks for posting. I never saw that interview.

 

He put Larry in his place on many occasion. Almost forgot how ugly Merchant was being. Anyone who saw this fight will remember Hakkar circiling along the ropes for a good 6 or 7 rounds. Literally running from Hopkins.

I like the 1:40 mark when Larry, who is interviewing Hopkins, keeps trying to cut the man off and Hopkins goes "Larry.. Stop being ignorant"

 

Hopkins fought plenty of bums too!!!

Guess you're bound to fight "bums" if you been defending MW belts for ten years :-(

 

Hopkins would've fought his mother if she was a mandatory. His belts were his prized possession, just like it was for Hagler. Two guys who earned their way to the top and having the belts meant they were something in life.

 

Good post. I don't remember this one, and feel ashamed for having defended Larry on some occasions after seeing that. What a ****in' *****.:bart What did he want Hopkins to do? Larry needed to stand there and say the WBC's mandatory was embarasing, not anything to do with Mr. Hopkins.
