Bernard Hopkins: I would have knocked out Tommy Hearns

Hey! I fixed it at the second attempt!!

Hearns left hook to the body was something else when he could get it going (it had Barkley going for what that was worth!).

 

I don't know whether it was just his night or whether it ruined him, but Mugabis ability to take a shot took a steep downturn after Hagler battered him.

The Mugabi that beat Hagler would've smashed Tommy IMO. He's the kind of beastly figure you'd need to get Tommy out of there IMO.

Try and box Tommy and you're ****ed. Hit him very hard and you might have a chance.

Yep, it was a wicked shot. Tommy is really lighting 'The Blade' up before KA-BOOM!

Tommy, full as heart, tries like **** even after that shot!

 

For what it's worth I do think Hop' would dictate enough, spoil enough, and score enough in close to win a close, and sometimes ugly decision. But Tommy would do some quality work, and in a 3 fight series I'd expect both men to pull out at least one win.

 

Dawsons gonna make him look very old and retire him in his corner in the 5th.

Hmmm.... I think Hearns would try and bang Mugabi out early.

Not sure what it was with Mugabi why he was finished after that, was he never really that good or was Hagler ringrusty/faded?

Probably the next round if his corner allowed him out.

Barkley was pretty tough but Hearns would have done him some serious damage before long. He probably did, he was never the same afterwards.
