Even though he has nothing to prove, because he proved himself over and over again that Hes one of the greatest fighters of all time,a TRUE Legend Wouldent it have been exciting if Bernard drop down to SMW and and participated in the tournament? We could have possibly seen a Hopkins/Taylor trilogy? Froch vs Hopkins Kessler vs Hopkins I say Bernard wins the whole tournament if he waz in it!! But being the PROVEN legend that he is,and beating 2 undefeated fighters in his last fights....Bernard can choose to do whateva he wants and will still go down as an All Time Great!!!
Hopkins easily beats Abraham, Froch and Taylor. He neutralizes Kessler's 1-2 and beats him. Dirrell might give him problems because of his youth and blazing hand speed. But i think Hopkins adjusts and makes it an infight and beats him. Ward might be the most difficult matchup for Hopkins because he's sound technically and has the hand speed to trouble him.
No he didn't. It doesn't matter how many times you say it, he lost one of those fights. He lost on the judges scorecards and in the opinion of most people who watched it. It was more than a year ago now, learn to live with it ffs.
I agree with your post, but do you think Hopkins has enough left in him to make it through to the end? Today, he beats all of the combatants, but 4 fights from now, could he win the final?
Wouldn't it be hilarious if Hopkins won? , HBO would shoot him or something. :rofl Yes it would have been exciting if he participated but glad he didn't, the man is a legend who did more than enough and is better off enjoying retirement. Time to see the new generation shine now.
:good true be that... The only way Hopkins beat JC that night was if the rules have been changed and the judges now score clinching as opposed to punches landed and aggression
Well, it's just a what if scenario. Yeah, assuming he makes it to the finals, he would be like 47 or something in 2011. But i'm assuming that we are looking at the Hopkins of his last fight against Pavlik and not some aged man who lost more of his physical talents.
Hopkins easily beats Taylor??? That would be news to me... I feel that Hopkins lost the first fight with Taylor and won the rematch. Both were difficult fights for him and it was just as much Taylor with his stamina problems as it was Hopkins with his skills that made these fights very close. The one thing Hopkins doesn't neutralize well in an opponent is superior speed. Hopkins pulled out a fantastic vintage performance against Pavlik, but he has not been able to perform at his best in consecutive fights for some years now.
The Hopkins who LOST to Calzaghe and the Hopkins who struggled with Winky in a terrible fight might lose to all six six fighters in the tournament. Hopkins is a legend, but let's not get make assumptions about his ability to perform at the top level because of one more great fight against Pavlik.
is that a joke? you ****in kiddin me? i have this dire-fest on dvd, indeed i made a thread regarding the scoring a couple of weeks ago,you must be medicated or a raging alcohlic to suggest hopkins won that shitfest, grow up y' tool. with regards to your thread though, yes you are right following his schooling of mr one dimensional (AKA pavkik) i have no doubt he would win the tournament blindfolded move up to heavyweight and singlehandedly school the ukranian brothers cure world hunger, banish famine and oust robert mugabe whilst laser beams pour forth from his eyes and a red halo encircles his bald annoying ****in head... that guy was a disgrace in that fight, rehabilitated my arse!!
Hopkins would not be fighting the same JT that he fought back in the days. This JT has been KOed twice in devastating fashion. He lacks the dog in him that he had when he was a prime, undefeated fighter against Hopkins. He was a confident man. This JT has been "exposed" by Hopkins and KOed twice since then and has lost that confidence and dog mentality. Also, Hopkins was struggling to make 160 by the time he fought JT. This Hopkins, at 168-170 is stronger, bigger, and better. He has more stamina and more "pop" in his punches. Knowing what Hopkins knows now about JT and how limited he is and how he's been KOed, he would make that work in his favor. Yeah, i think he beats him for a clear UD, possibly late KO.
