He's the ugly duckling of the boxing world, but an absolute jewel in the crown of modern boxing, there's just no way you can't give the guy credit. He's done this time and time again, he destroyed Tito, punked Pavlik and took out De La Hoya (say what you want about it, in my eyes that was no dive), now he's taking on a prime fighter who is a sensational Light-Heavyweight and may also go down in history, unless Hopkins has something to do with it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if he wins this one, he'll take over George Foreman's mantle as the oldest boxer to win a world title, correct? That is just absolutely phenomenal and amazing, and I don't think it's unlikely to happen either, and if he did do it, you could argue it would be more impressive than George's, considering Pascal is a real live fighter and arguably the harder challenge to face than Michael Moorer. I think he can do it, Dwyer has a great video up suggesting why, I suggest you all check it out. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA-00DcA33o[/ame] There's no doubt Hopkins is a fighter that likes things to go his way, and recently more than ever he's became more known for his dirtiness and spitting his dummy out when it's not going his way, but if he's switched on, he's exceptional. If Pascal hasn't got this one right and can't neutralise Hopkins, he's in for a very tough battle. Hopkins is a great inside fighter, and if he can force Pascal to fight at his pace and rough him up inside for the first 9 rounds or so, Pascal will tire and be unable to mount a comeback and I could see him getting stopped by The Executioner, it all depends on how he takes what Pascal has, if he can't, then it'll quickly spiral into Hopkins trying some foul play and no doubt an accused low blow will crop up at some point. I really hope that doesn't happen, Hopkins is brilliant at shutting the crowd up too, so I doubt him being in Montreal will matter too much, he knows all too well what it's like. Cannot wait, and I wish Hopkins all the luck in the world, this, in my opinion, would be his greatest achievement.
so ridiculously overhyped and so for hopkins to beat the guy who beat dawson at the age of 46 probably will never be replicated, hopkins can continue if the fight goes well, another big day against the super 6 winner like ward could be great, or even froch in the uk
Ive got a lot of time for bhop and he continues to suprise me by rolling back the years but i think he might have bitten off more than he can chew against pascal. he has clearly won the mind games against pascal but i fear he could go from being special before the fight to special needs after the fight.
would be a great win for BHOP if he can pull it off. I think he can. I just hope its a fair decision.
He's had a great career, even if he is a childish idiot at times. I love that you have to outbox him to beat him. 57 fights and never knocked out.
