Agreed and when did he "crumble" against Taylor? Both were close fights. It scares me how little people have seen of Hopkins yet make all these assumptions like saying he was "never in a good scrap except for facing Trinidad & Pavlik". I bet they don't even know that he was an aggressive fighter while facing Joppy & his fights before facing Joppy for the most part. Even the Mercado fights were wars.

hopkins doesn't get hardly any credit on these boards. Hopefully after he takes the titles from Pascal, people will rank him higher on these boards

Its ridiculous how little respect he gets because he wasnt a one punch knockout kid. What more did bernard have to do?20 title defense. Faced many opponants with heavy knockout ratios had big marquee fights cleaned out the division held it down for 10 years finished 13 opponants in his title defenses saying he doesnt deserve to be top 5 is nuts.

People forget he held all the major titles and did it proudly. He fought any mando so of course he wouldn't have the biggest names on his resume considering the time he fought. Anyone that feels he doesn't deserve to be in top 5 is crazy. I don't know where this Hopkins hate comes from and if it's his tactics then that shouldn't be. Carlos rabbitpunched in his career and Hagler(I love him but still) threw some lowblows here and there yet they get free passes. This gets me in the mood to rewatch some of his fight especially his scraps with Aquino & Baptist which I doubt many on here have seen.

Yeah when your holding down a division like that essentially there arent gonna be any stars but u your job is to drown out all the up and comers to be a star they have to come knock u off the throne Carlos and marvin both did same thing drowned them all out. I think all three were special fighters think Carlos was best of the 3 but i think u can move them around and still be right.

Aquino.truly a formidable, deserving youthful opponent there:cool:.Pretty good fighter when he fought Marlon Starling a hundred years earlier though.

Seriously though, Hopkins is hardly hard done by.None of these three are really.

    Marvin
    Carlos Monzon
    Hopkins

It's a very easy list to make, Bernard is not on either guys level.

Easy to tell you haven't been following the sport for any length of time. In his prime, Hopkins would **** people up.

:happyGlad to see someone else knows about a prime Hopkins too. I was starting to think me, Alisjab, and ExecutionStyle were the only ones.

lol He has Trinidad as his picture pretty self explanatory when he was going to say. Concidering bernard took trinidads soul and all haha. Bernards style is lethal and very versatile he doesnt leave any pockets open keeps high guard protects the body well can rough u up and knock u around inside hes like one of those throwback tough boxers from the 50s nasty ugly style sometimes he can force a dogfight people dont really like that style. I think as far as matchups go hed have a damn good chance of beating Marvin i can definetely see hopkins exposing that loopy hook that Marvin liked to throw in his day Marvin threw it so hard his whole body would turn and hed show back of his head to opponants at times cant help but see bernard expose that. With Monzon that be one intense fight.
