I know...but he was referring to Hopkins unifying vs Toney moving up.

It wasnt that Jones just moved up in weight, its that he moved up in weight and dominated a division. Plenty of fighters move up on a regular basis....some are successful, some are not. Very few move up and CLEAN OUT A DIVISION...just as VERY FEW stay at one division and clean out that division the way Hopkins did.

Wait scratch that....NOONE IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT stayed at MW and cleaned out the division the way Hopkins did.

Hense why it was more impressive than Toney moving up...Im pretty sure that is what he was getting at.

:rofl :rofl :rofl

I suppose his increase in weight was always his destiny.

Come on, though, Toney in an interview is usually DAMN entertaining. And that vid was no exception.

Oh god Toney is one of the funniest fighters of all time.

If we are talking from a pure interview standpoint...my p4p list looks like this...

1- Tex Cobb (by FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR actually)

    2- Ali
    3- Toney
    4- Tyson
    5- Mayorga
6- Old Foreman (young Foreman was a dick)

what motor city was saying is what he doesnt give more credit to a fighter who moves up in weight. Hes saying if you stay at one division and dominate it merits the same.
So what i wanted to know is, where do you rank B-Hop cleaning out the MW division, and winning all the belts there.
And RJ a natural MW, moving up 2 LHW, and claiming all the belts in that division.
Are they both on the same plane as far as accomplishements are concerned

Haven't seen much of Tex Cobb in interviews, to be honest. Any you tube videos?

Fab, I don't even bother to put up an avatar myself, because I know it won't match yours. :yep

I think what Roy did is very impressive, particularly that he won titles all the way up to heavyweight and could have collected a belt at cruiser on his way up. I would never downgrade his accomplishments, and I don't even like Roy that much. But Roy is a special case. I would say that Hopkins twenty defense reign at MW is more impressive than Toney's trips up the weight classes, but I would not put X's accomplishments at 160 over Roy's overall accomplishments. I hope that makes sense, I might not have done the best job of explaining it.

No but here are some quotes of his...

"If you screw things up in tennis, it's 15-love. If you screw up in boxing, it's your ass."

"When I got up I stuck to my plan -- stumbling forward and getting hit in the face."

Tex Cobb, responding to a reporter who said Cobb was a fat, cocaine snorting , drunk. Cobb replied: "I'm not fat."

"Sure, I'd love to fight him. But I have my price, twenty-five cents and a loose woman." On if he'd like to fight Gerry Cooney.

"This fight will be the nastiest thing you'll ever see. I've been sober for six weeks, and that makes me vicious."

"I miss having bottle fatigue. Abstinence is for monks - not for me. This kind of life is really over-rated. I mean, I'm actually getting to sleep before I have breakfast." On keeping sober during training.

Here are a few from the Larry Holmes fight.

"No, Larry don't hit as hard as Earnie Shavers. No-one hits as hard as Shavers. If there was a fighter that hit harder than Shavers, Id shoot him!"

"I wasn't talking to Holmes in there. Every time I felt like saying something to him I found it hard because he kept putting his left hand in my mouth."

"Hey, you're a white guy, do something about this!" To the ref in the Holmes fight.

"I'd have been more active in there, if only I'd been a little more sober."

"Let's party!" To Holmes as they touched gloves for round 15.

"I don't think his hands could take the abuse." On a possible rematch with Holmes.

    AND MY FAVORITE!!!!

"Yeah, I've been KO'd. Once. By a Mexican bantamweight. How come? Six of my buddies were swinging him around by the heels at the time."

Honestly tho...google him (I found these just off one website). You will find HUNDREDS OF THEM!!! He was phenominal.

i get what your saying, I just want to know if you have
    RJ LHW acomplishment
and BHop MW accomplishment on the same field, or does one get more accolades because he was a MW and moved up and won his.
Not taking into effect anything else RJ did. Just the LHW acomplishments, and B-Hop accomplishments at MW

What you've basically said is, Toney taking steroids hasn't made any difference to his fighting ability - or not enough to make ANY difference in his career.

Which kind of makes me wonder, why did he take them?

To answser you question, the drug abuser is worse.

I don't hit Zivic, Greb, Walker, Battling Nelson or Hollyfield in an all time sense for fouls which do not cost them wins, why should I do so with Toney?

Good question. They're pretty close, I would have to say. Hops had 20 defenses at MW and didn't even lose many rounds until he fought Taylor. Roy had fewer defenses at LH, but beat some good competition in guys like McCallum, Hill, Tarver, Griffin. Still he didn't take out every threat at LH, although I don't blame him for the fact that Darius M was not willing to risk his good thing by fighting Jones. I could probably go either way on this. Ask me right now and I'd say that Hopkins MW reign was better stand alone than RJJ's LH reign. Again, this is not taking into consideration what Roy did before and after.
