I can't believe some people think there's such a wide gap between the two. I don't blame anyone for picking either one over the other, but people are acting like Bernard couldn't lace Pacquiao's boots when it came to the sweet science.

Exactly. It's very close. Both have dominations over great fighters on their record and both have had periods of sustained dominance in their careers.

hopkins is more compelte / more versatile, but that doesnt necessarily make him 'better.' Both are effective at what they do. In prime for prime matchup (assumign their the same weight) I'd pick Pac over Hopkins.

Just last week everyone was saying Bernard can't touch Pacquaio, now because of this fight this past week with marquez, everyone seems to feel different all of a sudden. This goes to show you that fans really don't know boxing when they put their personal feelings involved, and that's what this board does consistenly all the time.

Another thing I'd like to add, when Hopkins loss a controversial decision to Calzaghe, none of the fans gave Bernard Credit for pulling out a victory that you can make a good arguement that he won.(especially on this site) But for last weeks fight, because fans treat Marquez like some kind of good guy, or hero, people act like he blew Pacquaio away. It just goes to show you how the human kind always puts their personal feelings involved when comes to competition. But as kids everyone is taught to be competitive and I think it's a hard habit to break as an adult and seperate biasness with being objective.

I think a prime Hopkins is all wrong for Manny.

People are still pissed at Hopkins for the Dawson fight so I doubt there's much of a swing.

People have been hating Bernard Hopkins since the Trinidad fight with puerto Rican flag situation. And no matter what Bernard does, they'll find reasons to hate him. It's just the way people are. I call it bad guy vs. good guy syndrome. Movie programming does that to peoples minds. Too many people are brain washed in society to see the truth in things.

Prime for prime, Bernard Hopkins is the better all around fighter. After all, Hopkins never lost in his prime. Can't say the same about Pacquiao, who lost to Erik Morales in his prime.

Hopkins without a doubt, Pac is actually overrated and I hate it when people use that word.
