And who became a big star after beating Hopkins? Jermain Taylor?
    Calzaghe was established.

I can remember Kirklaind Laing becoming a megastar after beating Duran.
    Who could forget Kevin"the megastar"McBride?
    Trevor Berbick anyone?

Are you saying that was gonna happen?
If he's a real star he'll do it without Hopkins. When his hometown venues are bursting at the seams,Las Vegas will become home.
And I'm not being sarcastic. If he's got it he'll get it.
To suggest he's only "not a star" because Hopkins got injured fighting him is ludicrous. You should be able to do it on your own,not because of a 46 year old.

this aint the 80s or 90s boxing is nowhere near as popular as it was back in the day. im not saying dawson would have been pacquiao or mayweather status but when the underdogs win convincingly or by KO they gain alot more fans thats a fact. nobody gave a **** about ortiz before he beat berto. sergio martinez becomes P4P #3 for Knocking out williams. great underdog victories against big names do alot for a fighters thats a fact

I lost a lot of respect for my boy Hopkins in that fight. he's literally my favorite boxer, but that was a ***** move on his part. I hope dawson makes it

I'm not disputing that for a moment, but I gave my opinion and tried to make clear it was only that and you said it wasn't valid while I said yours was.The only thing I'm trying to say is that if Dawson was going to be a star,he should be there on merit and not because he may have beat a 46 year old Hopkins.By "Star" I assume you mean a Las Vegas bill topper and an audience- friendly persona. If you mean a Reservation casino filler like say,Berto, then he's already achieved that.

    An underdog fighting a 46 year old:patsch
Chad has no personality that the public is interested in. Ortiz and Martinez are Latin and have more camera friendly styles and personalities.:huh

Hopkins knew he wasn't winning that fight. That was the easiest/pussiest way out without getting stopped by a punch or losing by a very wide margin. Dawson was about a round from stopping Pascal. The cut changed the whole trajectory of his career. That, and whatever Kermit Cintron-like mental issues he's got going on.

all im saying is nowadays its hard for american fighters to make it big the old fashion way cuz its not as popular as it was. im not saying a hopkins victory would have made him HUGE but it would have definately been a jump start to bigger and better things.

pacquiao has no personality what so ever. he became a star from beating a legend. Dawson is far from boring. if u want an example of a fighter that cant please a crowd its bradley.
