Bernard Hopkins said Jermain Taylor was a harder fight for him than Joe Calzaghe

The Taylor fight probably was a harder fight.I thought Hopkins won v Calzaghe,it was close but I thought he should have got the decision.

 

To me that seems a reasonable comment as I scored both his fights with Taylor even and had him beating Calzaghe.

 

I had calzaghe winning from watching the fight.

But then I remembered to apply the 4 point "white boy" penalty, and so B-hop won.

It was a moral victory.

 

Its probably true, but he still lost against Calzaghe

Those decisions were bogus.

Regardless Hopkins is a greater fighter than either of those guys.

 

Taylor shut Hopkins down offensively, thats why he won.

 

Nice video. When they slow it down like that, you can see Hopkins not just winning but dominating most of the exchanges.

 

This debate will rage until the day of reckoning. One fact will remain until that day though; the fact that a shot and bloated Calzaghe with Glass Hands went to Hopkins back garden with a corrupt ref and dry humped him in front of a global audience of millions. That's a fact that the deplorably racist Hopkins will never be able to change. :deal

 

Hopkins was inactive against Joe & Taylor cause they shut him down offensively, only Joe had to adapt after a few shaky rounds.

All Hopkins does, is try to tempt you into mid range so he can work his offense off his defense, your offense, but when your economical with your output, keep it at long range, dont get tempted into mid range where Nard can counter, it shuts him down offensively. Calzaghe closed distance too fast early on, which allowed Hopkins to pick up counters when Joe came into mid range, however once Calzaghe got dropped, he started to adapt, he respected the distance, closed distance slower, and strategically picked the right times to attack Hopkins, but one of things he did, was take away Hopkins thinking time by maintaining a momentum in what he was doing.

 

I thought Hopkins was robbed in the first Taylor fight and beat Calzaghe in an ugly but effective way. Calzaghe didn't land enough but Hopkins didn't throw enough. Still, he landed the harder blows and deserved the nod imo. Taylor-Hopkins 2 was close and could've gone either way and I see that being the hardest for him of the three fights mentioned.

Obviously becasue he lost to JT. He beat Calzaghe convincingly.
