Tarver is no legend. He got around at a time when Roy was not the same and that is all Tarver has. He was a good boxer, but never anywhere near a legend. Furthermore, now he is even worse than Roy. Furthermore, Joe would always have beaten Tarver. At this point in time, he not only beats him but he will win every second of every round. ____________ Joe has five option: 1. Dawson; has attrbutes that boxing fans would like to see Joe face before he retire. However, he is a complete unknown outside of the US. 2. Johnson; Joe and Johnson have been in talks at least three times over the past 10 years, so the fight is overdue and Johnson is still a good fighter. However, Johnson's style plays right into Joe's hands and most knowledgable fans know the result of this one. 3. Froch; The Cobra is probably the best option for a UK-UK farewell clash. If he beats Pascal I expect Carl to move right to the front of this group. However, Carl has never been in the ring with anyone remotely of Joe's class and most people think Carl would be far to green to have a shot at this point in time. A shot could ruin Carl's carreer more than help it. 4. Woods; Another UK clash, and Woods is a LHW like Joe now, so they don't have to argue over the fight weight. However, noone expects Woods to be a worldbeater and where the jury is still out on the Cobra, the jury has already come back with disappointing results for Woods. 5. Kessler; Probably one of the 1-2 most difficult fights for Joe. A rematch and Kessler will have learned a lot from the first fight both about Joe's style and tackling such a huge crowd in a foreign country. If the fight is not in the UK, Joe has his work cut out for him here. However, although most international experts saw the first fight as very close, Joe did win it and he has little to gain from a rematch. 6. Hopkins; While international observers saw Joe winning 9-10 rounds clearly in the fight, there are a few American boxing fans that argue Hopkins won. So, maybe Joe would want to set the record completely straight. However, noone that really counts thinks Hopkins won or was anywhere near winning. Furthermore the first fight was one of the most boring Calzaghe fights in recent memory, so Joe may not want to go out like that.
Hopkins and JC fought... the loser goes on to fight dawson and pavlik the winner goes on to fight roy and tarver Maybe its me... but thats a bit backwards (yes i know these fights havnt happened im just saying if thats how it played out) JC should fight Dawson, Tarver should retire
That is the dumbest unfounded statement ever made. You really need to STFU. Lets see Tarver fight Prince Abooty and Trinidad and see what happens. :rofl Crack is whack.
Dawson should rematch Johnson because he lost his fight to Glenn, Then B-Hop fight Jones then winners fight
Tarver is a legend? :rofl What has he done to earn a shot at JC?? Calzaghe would slap him around the ring for 12 rounds, the guy is finished.
Hell im European and there is no way in hell that Joe won 9-10 rounds vs Hopkins let alone "clearly" .... unless hitting air gives you points. It was a close fight and i could have seen a decision either way (clean effective punching but at low output, vs high work rate but ineffective debate) A rematch is definitely warrented.
Don't be surprised if this fight comes off. Hopkins is on the warpath to seal his legacy against the undefeated giants around his weight as he rounds out his career.
Cal could sit in Whales and do nothin' but eat Oreo's, watch the tele, and **** that fine girl of his for two years and come back to whip Tarver. Are those of you calling Tarver a legend basing this on the fact he whipped Roy twice?
and how do you know this? Giants??? Hopkins is more known for fighting dwarves than giants. In fact Hopkins has been the bigger guy in 90+ % of his carreer.
Dawson vs BHop would b nice for Chad to emerge. Tarver vs Joe? Actually that does make sense because Calzaggy fought an old Eubank, an old Roy Jones Jr and an old Hopkins. Might as well have the oldoes on his resume. The oldest threat would b Glen Johnson though.
Yeah that sounds good...If I can go back in time I wish Joe C would rematch Robin Reid. I thought Calzaggy lost that 1.
