Let me just say, I think Pavlik-Hopkins will be a very competitive fight...Although I think Pavlik will win, it's far from certainty.

Anyways, I was wondering what you guys all thought about what Kelly Pavlik (a guy who has given pretty brutal KO's to taylor, miranda, zertuche, zuniga) could potentially do to b-hop if B-Hop ends up getting his as whooped in this fight?

I dont think Hopkins will allow himself to get seriuosly hurt. He has too much experience and too much class. He will do whatever it takes to not get hurt. I still think Pavlik is going to win.

If Hopkins doesn't bring anything else into the fight, he will have his defensive skills. It's obvious that Bernard has safety as a priority. The two Taylor fights and the Calzaghe fight were in reach for him to win, but Bernard seem unwilling to take the extra chances he needed . I thought he did nip Calzaghe, so Hopkins is still very competitive, and no one knows how Pavlik will react to someone as tricky as Hopkins.
Depending on how good Pavlik is, Hopkins may win or lose, buti n any event he won't take a beating.

I agree. But I think it's a possibility, and to be honest, that's one of the reasons I'll be watching this fight...

Look anything can happen, B-Hop can go in there and pitch a shutout...its all up in the air. BUT to me, it is clear that not only has B-Hop been slowing down but his defense has been suffering also. He got hit alot against Calzaghe and against Wright. I think Pavliks jab is gonna be more of an issue then most feel, either landing or at least keeping BHop on the defensive long enough where he can unload combinations on him. Also the fact that BHop badly gassed against Calzaghe really worries me.

I for one hope that we don't see Hopkins gets stopped. No one can deny the greatness of the man. Ok, Hopkins may not to everyone's taste & he may not provide the most entertaining fights anymore. However, he's a legend in his own right, one of the all-time greats.

I will be quite sad if he gets stopped or receives a beating from Pavlik. We all know what would have happened had this been the Hopkins of four, five years ago.

In saying that, I must be honest & say the closer the fight gets, the more inclined I am to think Hopkins will shock us all & pull out the victory.

Put it this way, Pavlik will have to do a great deal more than just plough forward, throw & jab & right hand. I like Kelly, he's my kind of fighter, but I'm hoping for a B-HOP win!

If Hopkins must lose this fight, I think it's best for hopkins, pavlik, and the boxing community that it happens via KO.
