I like Bernard, but he needs to just hang it up. He already proved everything he needs to prove.

    He's an ATG.

What's the point in going on? Is he trying to get brain damaged?

Hopkins beats him and breaks his own record. Shumenov's strength and work-rate would make things interesting in spots, but even a damn-near shot Hopkins should have enough to out-manuver him, out-land him, and nullify his offense enough to get the decision.

I have Hopkins winning by late stoppage. I see Hopkins going on to face Nate Cleverly in late spring/early summer 2013.

Good news. Hope is not a false alert or just a rumour or a desire to fight. Bernard still has legs, reflexes, stamina, well conditioned and those excellent defensive and counter-punching skills. I do not think he is stayin too long for what I have seen in the Dawson fight. It's a pity that "Firebird" Erdei is not the one but hey, somebody credible will challenge this guy and then his 0 is gonna go.

b-hop still has enough left to school alot of fighters in his weight range, and to beat shumenov would be yet another feather in his cap. i'd love to see this fight take place outside of the u.s.

Of the options Shu has in that article, I'd be surprised if they would go the Hopkins route. Dangerous for a young, relatively inexperienced fighter like that.

I think Hopkins would cruise to a UD.

I likethat Cleverly's people have made a run at Shu too. And it seems Kessler may be looking to stay at 175. Interesting article. Thanks for posting.

Shumenov is the weakest link at 168 and 175... so Hopkins should win easily.

Hopkins should just retire. The man is a legend with nothing left to prove.

But it looks like he isn't, so barring a upset, I see Hopkins letting us bare witness to history yet again, as he will break his own record.

Shumenov is a tough dude with a high work rate and solid power.

Interesting fight. Deff would tune in.

The man still hasn't ever taken an arse whooping in the ring, and he is still at the top, or top two of the 175 pound weight class. Dawson was just a bad match up for a 47 year old man who doesn't have athleticism on his side. Remember that same Hopkins schooled Pascal twice, the same Pascal that has a win over Dawson. Guys like Pascal, Shumenov, and Cloud Hopkins can handle with little problem. So why not keep fighting. The man is more than competitive, and he will more than likely take out the trash (Shumenov.) Hopkins should keep fighting as long as he has the fire to do that. He is in their beating young prime guys, he isn't in there like Toney or Jones Jr, stinking it up or getting KO'd repeatedly.

    Good post.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing Bhop retire, I'm not angry he's still in there, as you said, the man is still a top fighter, compared to Jones Jr whole literally was almost ko'd by a man with 4 ko/tko's in 17 fights.
