Its funny how people criticism Jones opposition, but his top 5 wins are greater than Hopkins IMO. The Trinidad win way vastly overrated as Tito wasn't nearly as effective at Middleweight. The A+ fighters that Hopkins fought were far above their best weights. I think history will see his resume as a bit weaker than we do right now. Dont get me wrong, he is great though.

Hopkins.... 1. Tito 2. Tarver (very very close to 1 for me, I had no idea B Hop would win) 3. Pascal II 4. Pavlik 5. DLH/ Glen Johnson

Jones Jr..... 1. Toney 2. Ruiz (HW) 3. Hopkins 4. Virgil Hill 5. Griffin

I think Hopkins resume is still better.. time will tell how people view Hopkins resume

Joppy was always a pretty solid fighter. Always disliked him because of Duran-gate, but he was a pretty decent fighter, losing to Trinidad, Hopkins, Taylor and Bute (even though he was done by Taylor) isn't anything to be really ashamed about. They have all been considered the best in their division at one point or another by some fans, rightly or wrongly (Bute for instance).

joppy was already done when Taylor fought him, The Joppy that fought trinidad was the best version by far.

1st of all lets dispell the myth about the supposed greatness of hopkins resume, take away the smoke and the mirrors and this is what your left with from hopkins 6 best wins, with 4 of them being from when he made his opponent fight way above what their best weight was.

    trinidad
    prime weight = welterweight (147)
fought hopkins at middleweight (159)
trinidads record at middleweight or above from hopkins onwards = 2 wins / 3 defeats

    winky wright
prime weight - light middleweight (154)
fought hopkins at - 170 lbs
in 57 fights, the hopkins fight was the only fight that wright had weighed over 160 lbs (a full 10lbs difference)

    de la hoya
    prime weight - welterweight (140lbs)
fought hopkins at - middleweight (160lbs)
de la hoya only fought twice in his career at middleweight out of 45 fights -1 win / 1 loss - the win was a very debatable decision over eurobum felix sturm

    pavlik
prime weight - middleweight (160 lbs)
fought hopkins at - 170 lbs
in 34 fights pavlik had only fought 2 minnions at the beginning of his career at 169. all pavliks fights since hopkins have been at the 160 limit.

    tarver
    prime weight 175
great 2 weight jump from hopkins and his best win despite tarver being a b-level fighter and going 3 wins / 3 losses from hopkins onwards.

    johnson
prime weight -super mid / light heavy (162 to 175)
fought hopkins at - middleweight (160)
    johnsons record at 160 + from hopkins onwards - 19 wins / 14 defeats / 2 draws
the defeats have come against people of the level of ottke, woods, shieka, gonzales, harmon, branco, vanderpool, Kiwanuka, sosa :rofl

for hopkins there will always be a blueprint of how to beat him. 7 times hopkins got in that ring and wasn't good enough to beat the fighter infront of him :deal

    1) Felix Tito Trinidad

    2) Antonio Tarver

    3) Kelly Pavlik

    4) Oscar Delahoya

    5) Pascal? Really though I should say Glenn Johnson shouldnt I? Fukk it Johnson takes the 5th people argue that Johnson was green, and that Hopkins had more experience, well Hopkins really didnt have that much more experience he did fight Roy jones etc.... But Johnson had no losses at the time and had about 30 fgihts with a bunch of Kayos, I wouldnt exactly call that green...

:deal Truly a fantastic post from ESB GOAT Headbanger, but as amazing as that post is Heads, I have to correct you. There was 8 times that Hopkins failed to beat his opponent. Remember that R Allen hurt Hopkins and Hopkins slumped out of the ring and couldnt continue, so that legandary defence was labelled a NC :patsch. Great defence :barf.

But didnt he kick Allens ass twice since? Stopping him in the 2nd and dominating his ass in their third bout on the DLH Sturm undercard....
