I had thought Pavlik would win, I was wrong, insanely wrong The performance Hopkins gave tonight is a fight for the ages, it was incredibly, it was incomparable, unforgettable, UNIMAGINABLE Bernard Hopkins fought like a master, a true Legend, a One of the Greatest of All Time At the end, when Hopkins came up to Pavlik, and he told him "dont let this destroy you, you got beaten but dont let it destroy you, you come back bigger and better" That was an incredibly show of respect Pavlik-"He didnt fight like he was old, no excuses I got schooled" :smoke BERNARD THE EXECUTIONER HOPKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He has three of those performances on his record and he was the underdog in each of those 3 fights. Bernard Hopkins TKO12 Felix Trinidad Bernard Hopkins UD12 Antonio Tarver Bernard Hopkins UD12 Kelly Pavlik
A true great, fought the best Middleweight around, and kicked his ass, the same guy Calzaghe wanted nothing to do with.
i predicted this outcome, and said if i was kellys handlers i would have not taken this fight. But i wanted kelly to win though, so im still disappointed
Great thread. I agree with pretty much everything you said. I'm a huge Hopkins fan, but I felt ashamed of myself for picking Pavlik to win. I don't think I ever loved another man, as much as I loved Hopkins during that fight. I was crying tears of joy. My hats off to the old man.:happy
What's Calzaghe got to do with it? The way Hopkins made him look tonight, acting like Pavlik would beat Calzaghe doesn't make much sense. If anything, this is Joe's dream because it validates everything he's been saying about Kelly to a T. I gotta agree with Mexican Jew's original post though. I was dead wrong on the outcome of the fight, but have no problem admitting it. Hopkins deserves all the accolades he's getting out of it!
Amazing performance by Hopkins, I didn't think he had it in him. He schooled a tough young fighter. Much respect.
What we saw would happen every time if they fought. Hopkins is just way too skilled for him. I like Kelly but to be blunt he's a basic, 1-2-3 type of fighter....he just isn't in the same class as a Bernard Hopkins caliber fighter. I'm sure a lot of people will turn on him now tho.
I don't recall ever being so impressed watching a fight...Hopkins is a true boxing legend and I feel privileged to have seen this fight.
Hopkins = Legend, i wish roy jones grows some balls and steps into the ring with the executioner. it was great at the end when hopkins was talking to pavlik and he said, "you are a middleweight, you go back down there and rule the divsion like i ruled the division".
