Clearly a Calzaghe hater then. Pavlik does not get on well with boxers, this is clear to see. Joe's angles and workrate would be enough to see him through with Pavlik, which is something I've said since the fight was first mooted. I'd bet on Abraham to beat Pavlik, and if you've got enough time you can check my previous posts and see that I've said it before today. Pavlik can't plant his feet and throw power shots at moving targets like Joe and B-Hop; their decent chins and his lessened power at the higher weight make the possibility of a Pavlik K.O even less feasible. This is what someone who understands boxing knows.
I give Hopkins his props, but Kelly is simply to one dimensional. The only thing he has is POWER, and at 170 he couldn't have the power to knock out the much larger man. I don't want anybody to take this the wrong way...Though you guys will. I do believe Pavlik was exposed, and couldn't beat Hopkins... BUT am I the only one getting tired of Golden Boy promotions being in the last 2 fights, and Oscar's freinds winning??? Mosley knocks out Mayorga with a shot you don't even see in the NBA, and they never gave Mayorga the chance to even get up if he could... Then, this fight with Hopkins where Mosley was in Hopkins corner. Also, I didn't understand why they deducted a point from Hopkins in the 10th for holding..Yet...The ref let him go on the next 2 rounds holding AT LEAST 25 more times without warning. Again, not saying it was fixed, not saying Hopkins did/ couldn't school Pavlik cuz he damn sure could, but I just don't know how well I can accept an active boxer whom is freinds with other active boxers...Being promoted by. Worse than Don King to be honest.
i agree to some degree, i think kelly had the power, but kelly is a one trick poney, straight up and down no special effects ! he fought banngers and out banged them.but when he fought a world class boxer like hopkins, it was over for him.he really got outclassed.
First off, congrats to Bhop. I didn't think he had it in him any more and Kelly would just clean his clock, but I was wrong and it was the other way around for all 12 rounds. Bhop looked great through out the whole fight. Much respect to him......
Best 50bucks I ever spent on a PPV - right after the Tarver fight, that is. I was so thrilled to see him just take Pavlik to school. He even started bolo punching and clowning in the middle of the fight - clearly feeling confident and bringing Pavlik's confidence down further. Just a brilliant performance. I'm one of the few that thought Hopkins was going to win, but I thought it would be closer.
Absolute rubbish , Calzaghe would box rings around Pavlik, Kessler is a much better and more dangerous opponent than Pavlik:hi:
Hopkins performance was immense, superb........I mean 43 years old and he schooled the next big thing in a near shut out by exposing Pavlik's flaws just like he said he would....legend Calzaghe did well to beat him.......this possibly tops all his wins including Trinidad......well done Bernard
My sentiments exactly. I was in awe of Hopkins putting on such a clinic (against a very good fighter) at his age. Hell, such a performance would be a piece of brilliance against a prime fighter. He was simply outstanding, and I'm stoked that I got to see the fight.
Those were 3 MASTERFUL performances. For B-Hop to perform the way he did in such a dominating way against those 3 was AMAZING!! I feel sorry for doubting B-Hop & not deeming this a legitimate fight & possible easy blowout fight for Pav. i BELIEVE!! i BELIEVE!! In the legacy of B-Hop. The Sweet Science has found its Master. Somewhere Hagler is smiling.....I'd love to be a fly on the wall whenever those 2 great legends ever talk.
Hopkins was clinching most of the fight, if that was a virtuoso perfomance then Jhon Ruiz is the king of the world.
