Are we just to the point where we're OK with proven steroid cheats getting big paydays again? Peterson, Tarver, Morales, etc... I don't care how legendary they are, if they get busted using PEDs they should banned for YEARs if not indefinitely. How is boxing different from any other sport in this regard?

I hope they do not make this fight. Hopkins should fight Ward or someone good and then retire. Like I said in another thread, how do you rate old fighters who beat B level champs? Should that be equal to a young fighter beating a great fighter? I don't think so, since longevity has to do with genetics, but Hopkins still lost to Taylor,Calzaghe and Dawson in the last few year, so I am not sure being Cloud should get him anymore ATG ranking. I would say no, but it solidifies him as a great old fighter.

This fight is pointless. To be honest I rather see Hopkins vs Jones lll then tarver one hit wonder azz.

I look at Morales taking a hit of Clen the same way I look at Jesus in the Bible up on that cross shouting 'oh Lord why have you forsaken me' we see both men struggling one with his weight the other with his impending brutal torture and death but with both men we should choose to remember the good and not the bad.

Im sure Tarver's ban was for a year and on top of that he would most likely have to move down to lhw.

Tarver got his ass whooped the first fight. He was to preoccupied with the Rocky movie. He don't deserve another shot after that performance.

I doubt Tarver can come down to light heavy and if he could I think any chance he had of winning might go out the window.

I don't think this fight happens but if it did this is a case where a catchweight isn't a bad idea, somewhere around 185.

At that point, if Hopkins went to cruiser, I think I'd prefer to see Hopkins take on one of the champs like Huck or Lebedev. But, Tarver does have a minor belt I think and that might be good enough for Hopkins if he was interested in a cruiserweight belt.

A Hopkins-Tarver rematch isn't one I'm pulling for but if it did happen I don't think its as bad a fight as some do.

Not everyone who fails a single test is a "proven" cheat. Preaching infallibility of the methods in use and presumption of guilt for every contested positive is every bit as naive as people denying that PED abuse exists.

For the record, I personally don't believe that Peterson, Tarver, or Salido knowingly used any banned substances to enhance their performances against Khan, Kayode and Guerrero respectively.

For the record, I was a lifelong Shane Mosley fan, much bigger fan of him than of all three of the aforementioned trio combined - yet given all the evidence (hard and circumstantial) in the public domain I believe fully that he was entirely complicit in his knowledge of the effects of the EPO he took and that his later hedging of the grand jury hearing confession by feigning ignorance as to its nature was a mere attempt to save himself a bit of chipmunk face.

So to clear that up, no sacred cows for me.

In the cases of Peterson, Tarver, and Salido there are unique extenuating circumstances that bear hearing out.

I think I read that Andre Berto may also turned out to have actually been innocent, but I haven't read up as much on that.
