Foster takes him behind the woodshed and paddles his ass.

Bob Foster did not beat very many notable fighter's though. Dlck Tiger was a past-prime former Middleweight. V. Rondon, M. Quarry, and a few others were decent at best. He fought some of the most light punching Light Heavy's ever. When he stepped up to Heavyweight he got the crap beat out of him by Doug Jones, Ernie Terrell, Zora Folley, Joe Frazier, Muhammad Ali, etcetera. No shame in losing at HW though. I like Foater but sometimes I thibk he gets overrated because he had some great KOs.

I wouldn't pick an old Hopkins to beat him, but Hopkins' best wins at 175 are probably better than Foster's.

If Hopkins moved up to 175 at age 35, and he could have, then he might win.

Foster would ,at some point , hurt Hopkins s , and from there on he does enough just to survive .
Foster by a clear cut decision!

I just watched his fight against Terrell. He started well in first round but he was basically beaten by round two. It's visible how every punch Terrell threw hurt him and it's not like Ernie was great puncher at heavyweight.

That's the reason why I can't see him beating the best punchers at LHW like Fitz, Langford or Moore. Or even Charles for that matter.

Hopkins is better matchup for him, he would probably win by decision.

I love Bernard, and he was a very capable Light-Heavy. But let's be frank, he only finally moved up to 175 through necessity at the age of 41 because Taylor had turfed him out of the Middleweight division. When Roy was still reigning supreme at 175 a few years earlier, Hopkins was talking about catchweights and bringing Roy back down to 165, 168 etc. Similarly, if Foster had been around at the same time, almost taking guys' heads clean off their shoulders as he was consistently doing 1968-74, I think a Middleweight Bernard would have been happy to turn his head and make out like he didn't know who Foster was.

A great Middle against a great Light-Heavy; I'm going with the great Light-Heavy every time here. Hopkins might be evasive and canny enough to go the distance, but he'd have to be very safety-first to do so, and he wouldn't be making any impression with the judges. Foster wide UD.

Maybe he meant BHop in his first fight ?

If so, he get's KO'd very early.

If he meant later career LHW BHOP, same thing only later.

How did Hopkins lose his middleweight title? By letting the other guy use the jab with the threat of power shots coming at him should he try to commit.

If only Foster had a good jab and some power. He might win this.

Well if he's such an expert on how to foil a fighter with jabs and power, why'd he fiddle while Rome burned against Taylor?
