Gee, can't argue with that sound logic.

Nobody in the entire history of the MW division is KO'ing Monzon, especially a counter-puncher with mediocre power (in comparison to the big punchers) like Hopkins. Monzon has just as good a chance of stopping Hopkins (very, very little), probably an ever better chance of flooring him at some point.

If you want anyone to take your views seriously, actually attempt to back them with some kind of argument. As of now you just look like an idiot.

Monzon in a match that is not as close as people would think. I love Hopkins and accept his greatness but I just think Monzon was that much better. He would be hitting Hopkins with his piston jab, moving, and occasionally landing his straight right. He would win by sheer activity alone. If Taylor could squeak out a win, Monzon should be able to win comfortably.

I think that guy is just an alias/troll.

I refuse to believe that someone can seriously be as stupid as he comes across as.

Okay. Bernard is more athletic and can land combos at will. Bernard is stronger. Plus Bhop would take away Monzons jab and land crisp powerful counter rights and lefts.

It would help your case if you actually knew something about Monzon.

Did Monzon fight at 175? What great fighters did he beat? Help me out.

Two can play at that game.

Monzon would land his jab at will because Hopkins wasn't good at defending the jab. Monzon was better inside because Hopkins wasn't good inside. Monzon would land the straight right. Hopkins would miss the straight right. Monzon would land more shots.

That's about as thorough and qualified an analysis as you've given. :good

That's a very big claim? I've seen the tapes, there's no doubt in my mind. I'm utterly unmoved.

This fight would take place at 160, what does 175 matter?

Monzon beats Rodrigo Valdez twice, Bennie Briscoe twice, Emile Griffith twice, Nino Benvenuti twice, Jose Napoles, Denny Moyer, Gratien Tonna, Tony Mundine, Tony Licata, Jean Claude Bouttier twice, Tom Bogs, and a shot Jorge Jose Fernandez.

That quite easily eclipses Hopkins's MW resume, though Hopkins's success post-MW tightens the distance.

I could say there's no doubt that the world will end tomorrow. It doesn't make it so. In fact it's pretty idiotic to be set in that mode of thinking, if you get my drift.

Lots of names. I will admit im not familiar with most of them, except for Brisco. I said 175 cause i Hopkins would be stronger. Thanks for the history lesson on Monzon. Only seen him fight a fiew times.

Did you see the way that he controlled the distance and the pace of the fight against absolutely everyone? Did you see how accurate he was, increasingly more down the stretch?

The man was never beaten once he reached his prime, 100 fights and he beat every man he ever fought. Monzon is not flashy but you need to look further, he was as effective a fighter as you will see. If Monzon's career doesn't impress, nothing will.

Hopkins via devastating knockout in the very first minute. Monzon down for 5 minutes and helped by handlers to a stool where and later said "when he hit me I never knew where I was was. Those moments after I was confused. Everyone around me kept shouting you have won. I thought I had won the fight"
