Hopkins, a la Mayweather, will promise to beat Monzon "on behalf of all battered women, and prostitutes by their pimps, everywhere"

Both Hopkins and Monzon are tremendously powerful offensive forces, but only one of them is a defensive genuis.

Different styles. Monzon wasn't as swift on his feet or as athletic as Taylor. And Monzon wouldn't be hitting Hopkins while he was on the move. He'd more than likely be the aggressor. Certainly within range, and thats where he'd have the vast majority of his success.

I think we've already went down that road. It involved you making a complete ass of yourself with nearly every single post and ended with you running off with your tail between your legs. But sure we can do it again if you wish.

Monzon v Hopkins is automatically a 160lb match-up. You been sniffing glue?

Neither of them are tremendously powerful you dope. If you concentrated on the footage rather than switching back and forth between Youtube and Youporn, you'd have known that.

And Monzon's defense, all things considered, gets very underrated. Just as effective as Hopkins in that regard.

This fight isn't really going to come down to who had the better offensive or defensive skills and ability. It comes down to two of the greatest ring generals ever, one who controlled people with his footwork and the other with his jab. Both had brilliant sense of timing and range, given Monzon's reach and much superior jab, the likely scenario is that he makes Hopkins come to him and times him coming in. Hopkins will land the occasional combo due to his faster hands and he'll be able to surge forward a few times and land cleanly, but most of this fight as I see it will be Monzon keeping Hopkins at his distance and scoring with the jab and precise right hand. It's a very close fight.

Well Bhop dropped Tarver at 175 pounds. Bhop has good power and has far better hand speed than Monzon.

Tarver is in no way comparable to Monzon.

Monzon's power was just as effective as Hopkins's. Neither fighter was an especially big hitter, though Monzon's straight right was probably the best punch power-wise between the two, though Hopkins's straight right was very effective in its own right. Most of Monzon's opponents had faster handspeed than he, especially a guy like Valdez, who'd likely have been an ATG MW in most other eras.

Hopkins is an accurate sharp-shooter who plays the percentage game well with his shots. His defense and offense is mixed up efficiently. I wouldn't quite term him a 'tremendously powerful force' He doesn't have serious power and he's not a physical fighter at the best of times.

Monzon punched harder than Hopkins. And while Monzon was also resourceful and measured with his shots, he put serious hurt on his opponents. Mainly due to his style and planting his feet more than Hopkins.
